I will be traveling to Italy in September and purchased premium economy class seats. Any posters with experience in this class? Is it worth the extra money? Thanks in advance for your feedback.

What kind of perks do you get (more legroom? priority boarding? better in-flight service?) and which airline? Wife has Senator status (second highest) with Lufthansa and even when we fly economy they seek her out and offer her the premium meal/beverage options. That said, economy on Lifthansa is solid (compared to say, United).

Delta Specific International ....
Comfort Plus is not worth much.
Premium Select (if available, not all Delta planes have these seats) is worth something

I just did it to Italy last week and was well worth it!! I will never not do it again. Especially if you have kids.
Huh? You loved it but never again? Help me out with this one. Thinking of taking family to Italy

Do it. Went to Ukraine in May via Budapest, Hungary. On way over we were rerouted through Istanbul, Turkey from D.C. and we flew regular economy for 9 hour flight to Istanbul and then flight to Budapest - very uncomfortable.
Coming home, upgraded to premium economy and it was worth it especially on long flight from Munich to Chicago and then down to Ohio.

Travel in the best class you can afford. Do business class if you can. It’s expensive but you get a huge difference in comfort and service and will arrive rested, well fed, and pampered. Otherwise go premium economy - you will not regret it.

Go business class or go stay home. Once you go business class, you can’t sit with economy class folk (or people who look like them). Steerage.

Spot on. Bought a last minute upgrade to business 2 years ago, and now I won't fly long haul without it. Just got back from Croatia and it was worth every penny. My old bones thank me on every flight.

I think this depends on your strategy and time constraints. If I'm flying to Europe I'm going to take a couple of Advil PM's and fall asleep as soon as takeoff. This way I'll get about 6 hours of sleep before the morning arrival so I'll be good for the day. I'm relatively short so I don't need extra room and since I'm asleep the whole way over it doesn't make sense to pay more for better accommodations. The return trip is a different story as I'll be awake for the entire trip and business class is really nice.

As for Asia, I been over about 40 times or more and have tried every strategy and nothing really works well so I've got nothing.

Recently got back from trip to Europe. We went over in buisness class and came back on premium economy. Buisness class was wonderful. We got seats that could be moved to a flat configuration. Great meals and even offered ice cream. Premium economy was just a larger seat area, no in flight benefits. So buisness was a lot better but more expensive.

Sorry about the double negative! We flew British Airways to Venice. The food on the airplane back is always good! Spent two weeks in Venice, Florence, Padua, Siena, Tuscany and Rome.

We do the opposite when going to Europe. We get the business class flat seats on the way over so that we sleep well before a morning arrival in Europe. On the way back, we usually travel during the day, so we get the economy plus that doesn't recline fully, but is still pretty comfortable.

If you're sleeping in business class you can't take advantage of the amenities such as food options (sometimes it's really good) including deserts and snacks such as cold gourmet nuts and swiss chocolates, not to mention the open bar.

You can do both on a 9 hour flight.

Reminds me of when I took an Ambien once on a flight back from Europe but was quickly roused from my deep slumber due to some nonsense. I was not all there and not happy but now I am thankful I didn't cause an international incident and get arrested when we arrived. Dangerous.

Any sleep you get on a flight is a gift. Being on planes is torture and sleeping is heaven.

I find the difference between a truly flat bed and one of these economy seats that reclines to about a 10 degree angle pretty remarkable. I really struggle to get any sleep in the seats that don't go fully flat and that lack of sleep can cost you a day or two to adjust once you reach your destination.

Two of YIMUSANFENDI's main selling points are how simple it is and how affordable it is.The system offers the features and functionality required by larger organizations while yet being simple to use and affordable for small firms.visit here

I’m in Italy right now. Flew over on delta in delta one class. We have 100s of thousands of frequent flyers miles so cost not a factor. It was outstanding on a 10 hour flight. I agree with other poster pick the highest class you can afford. It’s worth it to arrive rested, not sore and ready to hit the ground running. We got here Sunday morning. Saw Bruce Springsteen at Circus Maximus. Well us and 80000 others. Great fun great show. We saw him at BJC in March so this was a bonus for us.
Enjoy your trip. Roma is great. We spent a couple days in Venice this week. Good time too.

Depends on how much you have to pay. You get about 3" more legroom and another inch of width. You get alcoholic drinks and a slightly better meal. Cost per segment is about $150. I wouldn't pay more than that.

Easy to say but coach might be $1k round trip while business could be $4k.

I was in a larger pod on a first class domestic flight once. Airline must have been repositioning the plane to another airport. Can't find a pic of that, but it was pretty sweet. In looking for that pic, came across these.........

Flew Premium Economy to Italy last fall. Wider seats and more leg room and shrimp cocktails!! Totally worth it for the 10 hour flight. I think any flights over 6 hours in the future I will be upgrading to the bigger seats. I arrived rested and not in pain from being cramped in economy. My knees are usually jammed into the seat in front me with my long legs. I was able to stretch out in premium economy. Plus it usually comes with 2 checked bags included(we only brought 1 bag each but needed to buy another suitcase in Italy because we bought too much stuff) and you do get to board before the economy class.

How much does the upgrade cost? Edit: I’m taking a tour in Spain in the fall. The Prado, bucket list.

When flying I have two Manhattans before boarding. My wife guides me to my seat and I sleep until I arrive at my destination.

Do I do that because I am afraid to fly? No.

Do I do that to avoid spending money on good seats? No.

Then why do I do that? I like Manhattans, very much.

Why are Manhattans like tits? One is not enough, two is just right, and 3 is too many. And don't forget the Luxardo cherries.

This reminds me of the time my flight was 2+ hours delayed. I got drunk and then the stewardess comes up to me, deaf and drunk, and asks if I’m the FBI agent they were told to expect.

-Just to be clear, you are asking if I’m an FBI agent?
-Yes.
-Not me, wrong guy.

I think that says more about the FBI guy they were expecting than you.

We just got back from Italy. Flew United out of Newark — Polaris on the redeye going to Milan and Premium Plus (or whatever they call the first few rows after business class) for the daytime return flight. Polaris was very nice, but the best part was the access it provided to the Polaris lounge in Newark pre-flight -- sit-down restaurant with a menu, plenty of space to spread out otherwise, nice bar, etc. My problem was I had a full dinner in the lounge, then couldn't pass up the in-flight dinner too.

Premium Plus coming back was a good decision and value, but especially so since we had the bulkhead seats, which had significantly more legroom than the several rows behind us. As long as the price premium over standard economy is a few hundred per person, I think we'll be avoiding standard economy on international flights from now on. Yes, business/Polaris is even better, but the price premium is significant. We used miles on this trip, and glad we did as United just devalued miles by 30%.

Has surpassed the old fashioned as my go to (though it was always a very close second)….

We are doing Virgin Atlantic Upper Class from JFK to LHR in several weeks. As of right now, plane in one of the 900neo (fingers crossed it does not change). Looking forward to the club access in JFK and LHR on return trip.

A little more leg room. I used it flying back to the U.S. from Hungary last year. Sat in regular economy going to Hungary. I thought it was worth the little extra $.

Hopefully you are also going to Barcelona. We've been to Madrid and Barcelona about 7 years go. If we go to Spain again we want to visit Seville, Valencia, and Toledo.
