We could be 4-0 with UK schedule……fool’s goldI must be missing something. We are 2-2, and a 10 point underdog for our next game, but on this thread I'm reading Complete Coach, Brillant Hire, Monster Recruiter.
Something is just not adding up.

Coastal would have taken that 2020 team to the woodshed. I can't imagine would that O would have done to our defense. But regardless, I wouldn't feel any better about adding a couple of non P5 wins to the record. We flat out sucked...13th out of 14 in the league. We gave up less than 31 points twice on the year...AU and Mizzu. We gave up 40+ 6 times.
For sure. I just can't help to think we would have ended up firing him mid season anyway, then doing something stupid like losing to Wofford. So I'm kind of glad for the all SEC schedule. Potentially saved us from a massively embarrassing episode. At least we can explain that one like everyone else explains failures during 2020...it was COVID!!Don't disagree that we sucked. The coach sucked, and deserved to be fired.
I just bristle at the notion of throwing out "two win season" without a clarifier. That was in no way a regular season or schedule.
He couldn’t have hired Lincoln, period. Stoops had his “discussion” with LR immediately on his return and Riley took his name out of the hat. The Sooner site had several articles on it.HITH Tanner thought someone who couldn't win at Fla could win at USC is beyond me. I agree that Tanner and Mushhead should have been shown the door together. He has now done a maybe very poor job in his MBB hire when he had a great candidate on site. He did the same with Mushhead when he could have hired Lincoln or Mack.
This is why I have always felt the SC job was a very attractive one - expectations are not ridiculously outrageous. He couldn’t have hired Lincoln, period. And several successful coaches have struggled at UF since UM left…..the expectations of the fan base and the Bull Gators is ridiculous.
Completely agree. This is why I have always felt the SC job was a very attractive one - expectations are not ridiculously outrageous.
UF is very big and very wealthy and Florida is talent rich. Gator expectations are where they should be.He couldn’t have hired Lincoln, period. Stoops had his “discussion” with LR immediately on his return and Riley took his name out of the hat. The Sooner site had several articles on it.

I have to admit that I was frustrated that Beamer made that hire because of the NFL stats but once I heard his first presser, I was sold. You can tell how genuine, smart, and QB friendly he was from that presser. Even listening to how Shaw and Alshon endorsed him, gave me hope too. The positive reports from practice was refreshing and always thought if we could get someone in here that understand how to get his playmakers the ball then we’ll be a force.Everyone thought Loggains was going to fail here. People felt Coach Beamer and Ray Tanner went cheap instead of going big.
Once again Shane saw things in Dowell that the rest of us missed.
His play calling has been excellent and the television commentators are pointing that out.
He’s been a big help in getting the offensive line on track.
This was a brilliant hire.
Meanwhile, Dabo’s proving that left to his own devices he’s a horrible coach. The cheerleader is being exposed.
Shane Beamer is exactly what South Carolina needed.
Mack Brown is in year 5 with a more talented roster than ours. I don’t believe UNC was better than us but any team can be beaten on any given night.I don‘t know if Beamer or Loggains will work, but in year 3 we shouldn’t have lost to UNC, and we should have beaten an outmanned MSU last night with room to spare. We lost some real talent from last year’s team to the portal. Maybe those guys were a cancer; I don’t know. But it seems the Lloyd departure caught Beamer by surprise. We seemed flat footed to replace all of them. So far, the replacements are not as good.
Last night’s pass D reminded me of Old Carolina. Not sure what happened, but if we can’t run the ball or defend the pass, we won’t go bowling this year, which cannot possibly help recruiting. Say what you will, but Dabo has complete control over his program. Beamer appears to be trying to emulate it. We’ll see if he has the nads to do what needs to be done.
Perfect response! It does unless you are intentionally being a troll. Shane took over a 2 win team. We are 17-13 since he took over. The best coach in our history was 19-11 and he took over a 6 win team.
We lost to #1 Georgia on the road and #15 UNC at a neutral site. As those teams are a combined 8-0 no one else has figured out how to beat them.
TN is #21 and Neyland at night is one of the toughest places to play in college football. Around 100-110 teams would be 10 or more dogs to TN right now.
year 3 is often a dip year for coaches as the team is composed of bad classes from the previous hot seat/fired coach and the first 2 of the new coach (new staff and contacts etc.)
We are winning at nearly the best rate in our history after taking over a 2 win team. We are playing the toughest schedule in football. We are recruiting at the highest level in history at a time when our major recruiting competition has won 4 recent national championships.
Beamer might not work but as of right now we have very little to complain about.
Only two coaches consistently won at UF and they’re some of the best coaches of all time.HITH Tanner thought someone who couldn't win at Fla could win at USC is beyond me. I agree that Tanner and Mushhead should have been shown the door together. He has now done a maybe very poor job in his MBB hire when he had a great candidate on site. Did you say UNC was more talented back in August?Mack Brown is in year 5 with a more talented roster than ours. I don’t believe UNC was better than us but any team can be beaten on any given night.
It really doesn’t matter what I said though. The team composite show that UNC is a more talented team, which is to be expected since one coach was there longer than the other.Did you say UNC was more talented back in August?
They were better than us then. Now that the OL is settling and Mario is getting touches I think we would take them if we played right now.Mack Brown is in year 5 with a more talented roster than ours. I don’t believe UNC was better than us but any team can be beaten on any given night.
Me too. That’s why I wished we schedule them game 2 and not 1. It’s hard to know what you have without playing a real gameThey were better than us then. Now that the OL is settling and Mario is getting touches I think we would take them if we played right now.
List all the perfectly called offensive games you have watched.I'm happy with the Beamer hire so far, but the OP seems like a bit of a knee-jerk reaction to last night's win. It was a win and any SEC win is a good win, but it was far from a perfectly called offensive game.
two data points is all you have in the time Beamer has been here? You missed a lot of data.Agreed. Too early to make a call. As I'm reminded at my place of employment, one or two data points does not make a trend.
I disagree. Our special teams should keep doing what they do best, keep the defense guessing and winning games for us. Of course we should try things like this. Makes no sense it was a good call no one expected and it was wide open. And the two point play attempt is still stupid ....
Back in August I read lots of posts stating we were better. Didn't keep track of the posters. It really doesn’t matter what I said though. The team composite show that UNC is a more talented team, which is to be expected since one coach was there longer than the other.
