OK, so like everyone, I'm geeked about being 5-2, stomping KY, & ending the losing streak vs. aTm. Now we crack the polls & are feeling really good about ourselves. The season may actually play out to be a very successful one. But..........................

.........if you really take a good look, this season is really shaping up & playing out like the 2017 one did. It was Coach Butthole's 2nd season after he exceeded expectations in year one & made a bowl game. The team was really not that great, but seemed to just find a way to win games by getting turnovers & such. Honestly, that team was fool's gold. They were sooooooo fortunate to go 9-4 with a bowl win. Then our whole fanbase had expectations through the roof & the downfall slowly started to begin of the Coach Butthole era.

Call me a pessimist, but this season is really playing out like that 2017 season did. A lot of bounces are going our way. Beaten 3 cupcakes. Beat KY when they didn't have their future NFL QB & we really didn't play all that great. KY played horrible. Beat aTm when they had QB issues & they gift wrapped a lot of points to us. We just found a way to win. If you really think about it, we didn't play all that well. We just managed to win the game.

I really don't think we're a good team yet. We're about a 6-6 team. Lots of staffing needs bettering. Got to keep recruiting & figure out a way to land a couple or more top 10 classes. Then it can start rolling.

Just don't get too over-hyped yet.

I'll tell you how this season will play out. We should beat Mizzou and Vandy. Florida is a decent possibility. We'll lose the last two games pretty badly and finish 7-5, possibly 8-4 for the reg. season. Let's not lose sight of the fact UK and A&M pretty much handed us the game with bad mistakes. And UK was without their all-everything QB.

I'd really like to see a better offense. But all in all, who can complain about 7 to 8 wins at this point?

Seven or eight wins at this stage? Nobody. But a person can want to see improvement in a phase that is lagging. In fact, we'll have to improve in that phase to move up above the middle tier of the SEC. Then we'll be playing those late-season games that people circle back in the summertime and the anticipation proves justified. In other words, not this year's Texas A&M/Alabama game.

I agree, we are a couple of plays from being 2 and 5, I've been doing this for 50 years, we are not a good team, Rattler is average, so is the coaching staff. As much as I hate CU, Dumbo knows how to hire good coaches, Beamer needs to surround himself with good X & O's coaches to be successful.

I think a couple of the offensive coaches are average. At least one on the offensive side is very good. The special teams coach is very good as are most of the defensive coaches. Replace two or three coaches. That's all it will take.

You're painting a brush that is a bit too broad.

I like what I've seen with the growth on defense and credit White and his staff with that progress. Simple things like getting your hands up during pass rushing has resulted in a number of pass deflections. That's good coaching. On the offensive side, Satt needs to stop wasting plays with predictable runs into the middle resulting in 3rd and long situations on every drive. Try to get some 1st down yardage to take some pressure off Rattler to make 10+ yd throws on 3rd down every drive.

A&M was a credible win in my opinion. Remember, they were only a few yards away from beating Bama so they are not a bad team.

It was a credible win based alone on their obvious physical superiority on both lines of scrimmage. They don't have a difference-maker at quarterback, and that deficit has become a defining one.

Dabo didn't have it built to compete with the likes of the SEC contenders halfway through his 2nd season. He simply played in a weak conference, which masked a lot of deficiencies. Remember we owned them early in his tenure. We could be an 8 to 9 win team in the ACC right now. But we're not there.
