125 is a perpetual problem or so it seems. I know we lost one of our wrestlers but we always seem to be one short. I sure wish we could start off with a stud there.
You can blame it ALL on Mr. Nico Megaludis.

All of those rumors of him injuring our heavier wrestlers were obviously true. Now Cael purposely under recruits that weight class to preserve the future health of his lineup.

Wasn't Eyler ranked? Maybe Barraclough helps Cael keep Haines' shirt clean!

It's not really a perpetual problem. I go back to when the Tuffy from McGuffey walked on the mat at 118#. We had a heck of a lot of good lightweights from then until now and several national champs. Carl Destefanis came up into the stands to greet his parents and he had a big bruise on his cheek that my 7 year old daughter laid a kiss on. I have many good memories of our lightweights.

Nice effort by our guys. The established guys looked very solid. Brooks is bigger and more ripped, if that is possible. But like David Taylors ascent to the top of world freestyle, he is really, really big. Brooks has that same look. The younger guys basically met expectations. Gary is going to wrestle hard but we are out classed there. BB looks way better at the lower weight. I didn't know what to expect from SVN, but he was both slick and brutal. BearClaw continues to get better, what a battler. Facundo, hard to tell. I hate to say bad things about college athletes but the LH guy looked likee they pulled him out of chem lab. They had some guys who really battled, while getting throttled and there were others who were tackling dummies. Someone used the term in a prior thread, sorry for ripping your term, but it described some of the LH guys.

It was hot and sticky in the gym. While there will be a ton of speculation about Haines, I don't think we need more points at 157. The crowd filled in pretty nicely on a really crappy night. The drive home to Edinboro was brutal. For about an hour outside PSU, the wipers were on full blast and I still couldn't see much of anything. Fog and torrential rain. Usually when I am up at 1 pm, it is a potty call. Penn State needs to rethink traffic patterns on event nights. I would shutdown Park ave East and have 2/3 lanes heading out of campus. Drive everyone into campus from College Ave area where you could either stay on college or work up to the BJC/Pegula.

We were contemplating where they were going to put the 2022 banner. What we didn't realize was at the west end of the gym they put a brand new rack to hang from the rafters. Plenty of room for banners.

The football game today will be a complete mess.

It is very rare to have a wrestling match the same weekend as a football game. Throw in the crappy weather and it is a traffic nightmare. (I don't think the women's basketball game was much of a factor. ;))

I appreciate your point, but good organizations have contingency plans for rare events. Planning for the normal doesn't require an army of administration.

Does anybody know what the basis was for the unsportsmanlike conduct point deduction from Loch Haven’s score was during the 157 lb match?

I watched the match replay and didn’t see anything specific

I think Ironhead said it was because the thrown challenge brick hit a ref…& was of the option it was tickytack and not a valid deduction…unless I misheard.

This is a very strong team and it will be fun to see how they develop. LH just not on the same level

Ya think? 😊 We had 4 returning champs on the mat and Kerk impressed me the most. He added 20 pounds of muscle.
Well we have had 5 champs before and our top five understand scoring points. BB, SVN and AF could do some nice scoring too if things work out for them. BB appears to be wildly more confident and we know he has the ability. SVN and AF, really talented guys coming off RS, we have seen plenty of our guys contend/win right from the jump.

That’s exactly what he needed to do during the off season. Hopefully he keeps lifting and keeps the weight up. Do that I think he wins a National Championship this season.

I can't wait to Van Ness and Facundo face some tougher competition. They both look legit, but they are in meat grinder weight classes.

This 👆. Most think it was completely unintentional and the point deduction was unnecessary.
