Hopefully the first 3 weights do maximum damage if multiple starters are going to be out. Is Beard going at 97? Interesting matchup if so.

RBY perhaps out as well which would keep 4 starters out in total. Duals becoming increasingly diminished by injuries and load management. In years past this would rarely happen. Did Nickal or Taylor ever miss a match? Not a good look for a televised event.

Dean was limping in the 3rd period Friday night. Walked off the mat limping as well. If Beards wrestling today he’s definitely going to have his hands full. Should be interesting.

This is gonna be damn tight with all these starters out. If we lose to NEB do we share the Big10 title w/Iowa? Just heard that is the case, that we’d share if we lose today.

125: Drew Hildebrandt (DH) vs. Jeremiah Reno (JR)

Per 1
DH in on a low single, elevates, trips him down but JR does a split and they go OOB with 2:05. Stall warning on JR (quick warning, IMHO). DH in on a head inside single, to a double and gets the TD along the edge, 2-0. DH throws in a boot. Now he throws in a 2nd one and stretches out JR. He's working on a tilt but the buzzer sounds. End. RT @ 49 sec for DH

Per 2
JR takes bottom. Good ride going by DH. They are on the edge, and then a stoppage with 55 sec and a stall warning on DH. DH throws in a boot right off the whistle on the restart. Eventually he throws in a 2nd one and stretches out JR. End. A rideout. RT @ 2:49 for DH

Per 3
DH takes bottom. He works up, and he's out in 7 sec, 3-0. DH in on a low single, they scramble, and a stalemate with 1:29 left. RT is locked for DH. DH spins around behind JR but JR grabs an angle. They are on the edge and scramble, and then a stalemate with 54 sec left. JR sort of shoots, nothing. JR shoots, DH tries a counter, nothing. DH in on a single but they are on the edge, and a stalemate with 5 sec left. JR shoots and gets in on a leg, but the buzzer sounds. With 2:41 in RT, it's a 4-0 DEC for Drew Hildebrandt

3-0, PSU

133: RBY vs. Dominick Serrano (DS)

Per 1
They are both really active off the whistle. RBY in on a double and gets the TD, 2-0. DS to his feet and he's out, 2-1. RBY with another double for a TD, 4-1. He'w working an arm bar and a half nelson, but can't get DS tilted as they are on the edge, and then OOB with 1:08 left. RBY with an Olympic start and DS gets the esc, 4-2. DS shoots a double, RBY reaches over, and then spins behind to get the TD, 6-2, and then cuts him, 6-3. Then RBY with a quick TD, 8-3, and then another cut, 8-4. RBY with a low double and gets the TD, 10-4. RT @ 1:26 for RBY

Per 2
DS takes bottom. RBY quickly flattens him. He's working a chicken wing, but eventually gives that up. RBY working a bar and a half nelson and got a tilt but he lost it before getting NF. Another bar and nelson combo, but then he loses that. End. A Rideout. RT @ 3:26 for RBY

Per 3
RBY takes bottom. He works up and is out in less than 10 sec. Snaps on the head gets a low single and gets behind for the TD, 13-4. Stopped with 1:34 for PD. DS shoots but RBY with a counter of the TD, 15-4, and he cuts him, 15-5. RBY with another TD, 17-5. and he cuts him, makes it 17-7 (I missed a point). RBY with a duck for the TD, 19-7. He cuts him, 19-8. RBY in on a low single and a scramble and gets the TD just before the buzzer, with a stall call. It's a 23-8 TF.

8-0, PSU

RBY really wanted the TF, and worked hard to get it.

I'm sure we take for granted the energy needed to take down a DI wrestler, even though guys like RBY make it appear so easy. Great effort.

141: Nick Lee vs. Chad Red

One of the prime matchups of the meet. These two have been battling since they were kids in Indiana, and met in the Indy state final when Lee was a junior and Red was a senior (Red won that matchup).

Per 1
Nothing much thru 1 min. Red shoots a single, Lee sprawls, and a stalemate with 1:27 left. Red with a shot off the whistle and Lee sprawls, and is working around behind him as they scramble, and Nick eventually gets the TD, 2-0. Stall call on Lee with 7 sec left. Caution on Lee, I think. Red up on the whistle but can't get out before the buzzer. End. RT @ 58 sec for Lee

Per 2
Lee takes bottom. He's to his feet, and returned. He's up again, and peels out @ 1:30 left, 3-0. Red working overhooks, nothing. Lee with a few semi shots but doesn't commit to them. End. RT @ 27 sec for Nick

Per 3
Red takes bottom. He's up quickly, returned, works up again and to a 4-pt stance, then to his feet and returned. RT goes over 1 min. Red tries a roll and gets the esc, 3-1. RT @ 1:20 for Nick. Red sort of reaches, blocked. Lee tries to shoot, nothing. 30 sec left. Lee sort of reaches, then Red kind of counters but Lee sprawls. End. With 1:20 in RT, it's a 4-1 DEC for Nick Lee

Wild sequence. 0-2. Lovett throws in a boot, and Beau is having a tough time. Stalemate at 54 sec. left. Beaut works up and is returned and Lovett throws in a boot. Beau tried to work up and get Lovett over his shoulders, but Beau gets returned and flattened. End. RT @ 1:42 for Lovett

Lovett wrestles like a Nittany Lion. He shouldn’t have wasted his talent at Nebraska

I'm scared to see the comments about Beau arriving soon. As Cael would say, that's a measuring stick for Beau. He's wrestled the best. He knows what he has to do.

I'm curious why it can be so quiet at Rec Hall when there's limited action, but it rarely seems quiet at CHA? I understand it. When there's no action, there's nothing to cheer. Cael commented on it before the Iowa match.

I'll oblige - that was another extremely underwhelming outing by Bartlett. He actually lacks basic fundamentals.

157: Terrell Barraclough vs. Peyton Robb

Bearclaw going up against the #5 ranked wrestler

Per 1
Both are active off the whistle, then Robb gets in on a low single and gets the TD, 0-2. OOB with 2:37 left. Bearclaw to his feet and out, 1-2. Robb working underhooks and Bearclaw backs away, a flurry but nothing. 1 min left. Robb out of a tie tries a throw-by but Bearclaw with a whizzer and a stalemate with 41 sec left. Bearclaw reaches, nothing. End. RT @ 12 sec for Robb

Per 2
Robb takes bottom. Robb tries a roll and gets an esc, 1-3. Stalemate with 1:01 left. Robb reaches for a high crotch, nothing. Bearclaw shoots for a single but Robb sprawls, nothing. End. RT @ 6 sec for Robb

Per 3
Bearclaw takes bottom. Caution on Bearclaw. Bearclaw to his feet but is returned and nearly tilted with a 2-on-1, then Bearclaw gets to his feet and is out, 2-3. RT not a factor (25 sec). Robb shoots for a double, stuffed, Bearclaw working a front headlock, but a stalemate with 55 sec. Bearclaw shoots, and Robb sprawls back. Stall warning on Robb. Stalemate with 17 sec. Bearclaw in on a single off the whistle, they scramble, but he can't complete it. End. It's a 2-3 DEC for Robb.

Bearclaw really came close to getting the TD, but Robb had really strong hands and Bearclaw couldn't break the hold Robb had to get the TD.

I don't feel much like talking or yelling with a mask strapped to my face. I think that has something to do with it.

Bartlett's been dominated recently, although involving tough matchups. Is a one weight-class moveup that telling? Dunno.
