What

What did Manning do?
Manning is a habitual whiner and like a poor man's Tom Brands. I think it was Morgan MacIntosh match he was complaining that Morgan was intentionally trying to hurt his guy - he looked like a real a-hole then. He's just a ad nausea whiner and very irritating to me.
Ridge Riley Award Winner is Nick Lee
I think Nick was content to dominate his friend and not run up the score, just my opinion. Red is a quality opponent but Nick has had his number since latter days of high school.

I’m going to play devil’s advocate and take my beating. The ref was consistent about calling stalling if the guy kept his head down. Beard had an opportunity to stand when Schultz was out wide, but I think he looked at the risk and decided not to. At then end, when he had the leg in the air, you can’t just stand there with it, so I agree with that stall call. And when he walked Schultz out of bounds, you rarely see that called, but…Mike was just trying to get a restart. Ok, beat me up.

I’m not going to disagree with you. Mike lost that match in the 2nd period.

Nick Lee interview with Byers (summary of Q, then summary of A preceded by parenthesis)

Congratulations, nice job, all season and all season. Talk about the atmosphere at Rec Hall
- it's great to compete before these fans. They are great, and we love them

Talk about Chad Red
- there is stuff I can work on. He's a very good wrestler

Talk about the weekend, against 2 top-7 programs, and the depth PSU has
- we do our best, and we try to have everybody ready to go at any time. We harp on that

Talk about Michael Beard, tough reffing
- He's one of my brothers, so it was hard to see what the referee did. I don't want to comment too much as I'll get in trouble

Talk about the mindset at the end of the season
- trying to enjoy it while I can. Have about 2 months left. Taking it all in, and trying to enjoy it. We're focusing on trying to get everyone healthy

Not good enuff for the Big10. They wanna keep their $50M from Penn St since they’ve doled it to Delaney in bonus money and withhold any Big10 wrestler of the match awards. #Indianapolisisadump

"Looked like"? LOL.

"Is" would be more accurate.

Great match overall, especially with 3 starters out.

Beard got hosed. Really a shame the ref influenced the final result like that. Great showing by Beard regardless.

Kerk was grabbing at his left hamstring. Looked like he tweaked it on one of his 3rd period shot attempts. I could see him favoring it throughout the remainder of the 3rd. Hopefully nothing that lingers.

Big Ten Dual Champs! Now lets go win the next two championships and sweep all of the team awards.😊
I noticed the same thing about Kerk grabbing his left hamstring. He was noticeably stiffer the remainder of the match. Hopefully it was minor. Announcers talked about his opponent finally getting to his offense and it was obvious it was because Kerk wasn't the same.

Just watched the match on DVR. It's the second one I recently watched from this announcing crew. The other is Iowa. Are they totally anti-Penn State? In both matches, all I hear is about the opponents. I don't think they mentioned Barraclough during his match. It was all Robb this and that. He nearly lost and Barraclough almost pulled it off at the end, yet, nothing. And the TD by Lovett nearly creamed their pants. I'm sorry, but I didn't think it was "the best ever seen" and required 4 replays. OMG. I'm no expert in this sport, but I'm really loving it, so maybe I just don't get it all yet.

Haters gonna hate. Move forward and keep winning. New season coming up soon after the Rider match. It’s all about preparing now….I’m ready to head to Nebraska and the Big Ten tournament and Michigan for Nationals. PSU always has a HUGE following for the Gold. 🥇

I don't think they're anti-PSU.

Shane Sparks is usually pretty supportive of PSU. He kind of over hypes, or over reacts to things as the PBP announcer, so I guess it can seem that he's pro whoever is wrestling against PSU when they do something good.

Jim Gibbons is ??? ... he's hard to read. He kind of suffers from getting too tunneled in on one thing during a match. (Something that Ironhead can also suffer from at times.) He usually has a a lot of positives to say about PSU.

I should caution that while I had the TV broadcasts on for the Iowa dual and the Nebraska dual, in both cases I turned the volume way down, and listened to Ironhead's audio stream of the PBP. I think I turned the TV volume up a couple of times in the Iowa dual to see what they had to say. For the Nebraska dual, I think I only listened to the TV broadcast for a couple of minutes before the start of the dual. So my above comments aren't specifically in response to what Sparks and Gibbons said during the respective broadcasts. I'm speaking about them in general, and what I've heard over the years in previous broadcasts by them of PSU duals.

Certainly entitled to you opinion. But the reason I think it’s BS is that Beard had the leg up for nearly a 10 count with Schultz pushing off the whole time. Schultz stopped, Beard collected himself for a 2 count, and he immediately got hit with a stall and point. Then Schultz pulls off the mat and Beard gets hit with another? It’s nonsense, and we got hit often in this dual with it, including ludicrous calls on Brooks and Lee. Nebraska didn’t get hit at all for fleeing the mat, which is why I suspect Kerk made such a big show of pulling Lance back in at the end of the first period rather than trying for the takedown at the buzzer.

NCAA really needs to reassess the stalling calls especially on the legs. Sometimes it is stalling other times it is wrestling. It's not a one size fits all situation. Some of these refs are rather poor but it is a fast moving sport and their job is challenging.

I'm curious why it can be so quiet at Rec Hall when there's limited action, but it rarely seems quiet at CHA? I understand it. When there's no action, there's nothing to cheer. Cael commented on it before the Iowa match.
Just my opinion: I notice the chatter and background noice much more at BJC than at Rec Hall. My theory is that the Rec Hall crowd is predominantly long time season ticket holders. Many of these long term fans are former wrestlers, coaches, and refs (I sit among at least 4 former wrestlers and 2 coaches). This type of fan watches closely as if studying. It’s a quiet environment during hand fighting and riding time. The volume bumps up quite a bit when they see a move coming and reaches a crescendo when the move is executed.
At BJC and CHA casual fans make up about half the crowd or more. They like to talk, start cheers, and be excited almost all the time . . . this yields constant noise.
I’ll also add that I revere the expertise of our fans and the close environment at Rec Hall. It’s like a library at times, but, I’m damn sure that 95% of the fans are watching intently.

good observation. You can see that when watching on TV as well. Thanks to Histone, my son and I made the long trip up from Henrico Va yesterday to watch the match. He is in his upper 20s and hasn't been following since his active days participating in HS. (I did the same thing - let the sport go for a few years). So Taylor/Ruth/Nolf/Bo are his measuring stick. Had fun conversations trying to get him updated. Couple more notes:
- RBY - my goodness; Good to see Lee keeping the bar high; Bartlett is going to be amazing; He did remember Manville!; Beard's offense shows up - first time on the mat and that was amazing; won't repeat other obvious observations.
- wonder if Cael will ever employ PSU cheerleaders? Not advocating but curious of what his response would be
