Lane’s wish is starting to come through.
Same sentiment he had for Maryland when he left them after a year to come to PSU“F*ck y’all. I’m going to get paid. But thanks. Nothing but love for ya.”

That’s an interesting observation, especially if the staff used that as a selling point. He did what they expected him to do, now he should reap the rewards. Best of luck in the NFL Chop.In my opinion we kind of screwed him... he came here to compete for a CFP and our coaching staff (offensive mostly) failed him.
At least he didn't ask us to respect his decision“F*ck y’all. I’m going to get paid. But thanks. Nothing but love for ya.”

Lane’s wish is starting to come through.
After he came back, he played like a man on fire, returned a kick for a TD (everyone was like wth, why didn't he return kicks) and almost singlehandedly beat OSU by forcing fumbles and tackling like a banshee. It was Wade. And it's apt to say he was part of the "small" percentage. I think he was only in the portal a short time. Nobody offered that was head and shoulders above PSU.
Appears he came here to play football, get better, become a high draft choice, and make a ton of money, I'd say PSU delivered the goods. In my opinion we kind of screwed him... he came here to compete for a CFP and our coaching staff (offensive mostly) failed him.
Could have done that at Maryland... he, and the rest of this great D, was wasted by Franklin's repeated inability to hire top OC (this is all my own ranting obviously)... even Morehead crumbled in tight contests like USC, MSTATE, OSU in '17. Not sure we see another D like this in a long timeAppears he came here to play football, get better, become a high draft choice, and make a ton of money, I'd say PSU delivered the goods.

He could not have done that @ Maryland. I don't know when we will see a defense like 2023 again - but I would wager the mortgage money that we will never again see a schedule full of such atrociously horrible offenses paraded out in front of the PSU defense for 12 weeks (and the same, of course, for the 2023 Michigan, Ohio State, and Iowa defenses - who faced the same Murderer's Row of offenses).Could have done that at Maryland... he, and the rest of this great D, was wasted by Franklin's repeated inability to hire top OC (this is all my own ranting obviously)... even Morehead crumbled in tight contests like USC, MSTATE, OSU in '17. I'm not so sure about that. Even the NFL is lousy with crappy offenses.I don't know when we will see a defense like 2023 again - but I would wager the mortgage money that we will never again see a schedule full of such atrociously horrible offenses paraded out in front of the PSU defense for 12 weeks (and the same, of course, for the 2023 Michigan, Ohio State, and Iowa defenses - who faced the same Murderer's Row of offenses).
I understand that the offense didn't get late 1st downs vs OSU and USC, but not sure I would classify 38 and 49 points as "crumbling". Especially with the QB throwing 3 picks vs USC (including the last drive).Could have done that at Maryland... he, and the rest of this great D, was wasted by Franklin's repeated inability to hire top OC (this is all my own ranting obviously)... even Morehead crumbled in tight contests like USC, MSTATE, OSU in '17. But the defense still had a chance to make a stop and didn't. If a unit "crumbled" I would look more at the D.I was at two of those games and it was noticable three play calling was "don't eff up" with 4th quarter leads. It was maddening to watch.
Please just stop with your nonsense.Could have done that at Maryland... he, and the rest of this great D, was wasted by Franklin's repeated inability to hire top OC (this is all my own ranting obviously)... even Morehead crumbled in tight contests like USC, MSTATE, OSU in '17. Agree. Blaming the O there is a GD joke.I understand that the offense didn't get late 1st downs vs OSU and USC, but not sure I would classify 38 and 49 points as "crumbling". Especially with the QB throwing 3 picks vs USC (including the last drive).
I don't have any issues with his tweet, seems in good fun. We need more fun coaches like Leach (RIP) and fewer weirdos like Harbaugh.Lane is going to annoy the hell out of some people here with his trolling. Personally I think he’s the best ball buster in college football. The next few weeks should be fun.
Yeah, the players had nothing to do with it.In my opinion we kind of screwed him... he came here to compete for a CFP and our coaching staff (offensive mostly) failed him.
I'm not sure I can agree with that. Have you seen the AFC north teams? They wish their offenses were only lousy and crappy.I'm not so sure about that. Even the NFL is lousy with crappy offenses.
they do have tougher fans, thoughI'm not so sure about that. Even the NFL is lousy with crappy offenses.
Not sure how ya figure that? He played in a defense that highlighted his strengths. Guessing he raised his draft status. In my opinion we kind of screwed him... he came here to compete for a CFP and our coaching staff (offensive mostly) failed him.
I’ve been saying it for years. The only thing missing from this defense is a big, nasty, dominant DT. We’ve watched some pretty good ones, but they need one that can take over a game and stuff the run game. With the DEs that Franklin brings in, adding a game changing DT would be huge.I don’t agree that we will never see another defense like this one. Manny is a really good coach and these players are not even his guys. Every year that passes he gets more players who have been in his system; less time teaching, more time getting better. BTW, Imagine if we ever pulled in a legit 5 star DT. I also think portal guys will want to come here on defense. Mercenaries, sure; but I would rather reload than rebuild.
I think after the bowl game a good amount of PSU players will be in the portal and I believe most will take a step down to G5, MAC, or FCS programs, particularly some of the WRs and a few offensive linemen who haven't cracked the two deep and have seen very little PT.Why would you enter the portal before taking a nice trip to Atlanta?

He didn't figure anything out...just hand him tissues for his tears. Not sure how ya figure that? He played in a defense that highlighted his strengths. Guessing he raised his draft status.
BWICAC handbook: players win games Franklin loses them.Yeah, the players had nothing to do with it.

I expect portal movement out of PSU immediately after the bowl game, specifically some WRs and OL who were not in the two deep and received little PT. Could be about 6-8 scholarship players. So far, no offensive starters or back-ups in the portal; but, the OC was canned immediately after his second massive failure. It's not the talent, though of course, it could be better.
I basically agree - but it will have to be more than that just to fit in the next freshmen class (or course, it is possible some will just give up the football gig, rather than portalling somewhere to keep playing).I expect portal movement out of PSU immediately after the bowl game, specifically some WRs and OL who were not in the two deep and received little PT.
