Per Byers, Nick Lee was just medically cleared yesterday, and barring any medical setbacks should be good to go against Michigan. He hasn't been able to wrestle until cleared, so he wasn't in shape to go today.

Per 1
Shawver with a head inside single, DH with a whizzer, nothing. Shawver reaches, nothing. Stoppage for ?? a minute in. (Think it was an eye poke) Shawver with a single, elevates the leg, and goes to a double for the TD, 0-2. OOB with 1:14 left. DH up to his feet, returned, up again, and he's out, 1-2. Good D by Shawver. 30 sec left. Damn. DH with another low single but Shawver kicks out. JO with a sloppy shot that RBY counters by pushing him past and gets the TD, 4-1. JO to his feet and is out, 4-2. RBY with a duck and gets behind for the TD, 6-2. JO to his feet along the edge, but they are OOB with 37.2 sec left. JO up but returned. To his knees and back down. RBY flattens him. End. RT @ 1:28 for RBY

As Tom noted, no Nick Lee at 141. It’ll be Brandon Meredith.

141: Brandon Meredith vs. Sebastian Rivera (SeaBass)

Tough match-up for Meredith. He weighed in a 135.4 and his opponent, SeaBass, is exceptionally good.

Per 1
SeaBass nearly in on a single, nothing. Then tries a throw-by, elevates a leg, and gets behind for the TD, 0-2. OOB with 2:02 left. Optional start makes it 2-1. SeaBas works overhooks, and gets a TD off a single on the edge and gets the TD as they go OOB with 1:33 left, 1-4. SeaBass throws in a boot, gets a tilt and gets 4 NF, 1-8. He tilts him again from a 2-on-1 and gets 4 NF, 1-12. End. RT @ 2:09 for SeaBass

Per 2
SeaBass takes down. He's up and out quickly, 1-13. SeaBass in on a single and gets the TD, 1-15. He works a tilt off a half and gets 2 NF for the TF, 1-17 @ 3:36

6-5, PSU

149: Beau Bartlett vs. Michael VanBrill

Per 1
A lot of fight in the center early in the match. Beau worked a two-on-one; VanBrill working the head. Beau in on a head inside single and gets the TD, 2-0. Beau throws in a boot, then takes it out. VanBrill to his feet, then Bartlett gets called for an illegal hold, 2-1. VanBrill to his feet, and out with 11 sec left, 2-2. Stalemate with 3.6 sec. due to headgear issue for VanBrill. End

Per 2
Beau defers and VanBrill takes bottom. He's up and out, 2-3. RT @ 1:14 for Beau. VanBrill tried a headlock throw or an inside trip, Beau nearly got behind, but nothing. VanBrill with a shot, Beau with a counter, nothing. End. RT @ 1:14 for Beau.

Per 3
Beau takes bottom. He works up, a scramble, nearly gets a reversal, but just an esc, 3-3. RT is down to 51 sec for Beau so he'll have to win it on his feet. 1 min left. 30 sec left. VanBrill with a double from centerfield, to a single, Beau sprawls, tries to spin behind, nearly with a TD but nothing awarded. PSU throws the brick, so we're going to review. It was close, IMHO. Beau may have had the TD and then VanBrill threw in a whizzer, but the call is confirmed, so we're going to SV

SV
VanBrill reaches, nothing. Beau shoots from way out, VanBrill sprawls, stopped for stalemate with 1:06 left. VanBrill in on a single, they scramble, Beau has an ankle, he exposes VanBrill, VanBrill still has the knee, and a stalemate with 15.2 sec. Hmm. Not sure about that call by Angel. End

TB1
Beau takes bottom. He works up slowly to a 4-point stance, then to a 3-pt, and it's a rideout

TB1
VanBrill on bottom. VanBVrill to a 4-pt, then tries a switch, Bartleet stays with him, VanBrill to his fee with 10 sec, back down, Beau nearly with a cradle, END

SV2
VanBrill shoots, Beau sprawls, nothing. 30 sec left. End. No shot from Beau

TB2
Beau on bottom. Beau works up slowly, to 4 point, then to 3 point, stands, then back down. End

TB2
VanBrill on bottom. Beau with a neutral start. Beau stalking, and VanBrill backing up. Stall warning on VanBrill. Beau shoots, but the buzzer sounds as time runs out. 3-4 DEC for VanBrill

8-6, Rutgers

Note: I should add that I was worried about this match. Beau has got to get to his offense earlier.

157: Tony Negron vs. Robert Kanniard (RK)

Per 1
Negron in on a low single, Kanniard grabs an ankle, they scramble, and Negron gets the TD, 2-0. Nice job by Tony. RK started to work up, but Negron returns him then flattens him. They are on the edge. Negron got 1 swipe after tilting him, then RK nearly gets a reversal but they are ruled OOB with 1:17 left. Caution on Negron. RK works up, then brought down. RK tries a switch, but Negron stops him. Good ride by Negron, and just as I key that in RK to his feet and out, 2-1. Negron in on an ankle, and RK again grabs an ankle, they scramble, but the buzzer sounds. The refs confer, and then a TD is awarded. 4-1.

Per 2
Negron takes bottom. RK throws in the boot. Negron grabs the leg and is working it. He came close to a reversal but loses the leg and gets flattened back down. Stall warning on Negron. Neither guy doing much. Negron to his feet, but can't get out before the buzzer. Stall warning on RK just before the buzzer.

Per 3
RK takes bottom. Negron hook the ankle. RK with a switch and he's out, 4-2. RT @ 7 sec for RK, so it's a non-issue. RK with a duck to a single, switches to a double, Negron grabs an ankle, they scramble, and 2 is awarded for RK after Negron lost the ankle, 4-4. RK with the legs. Not enough time for RT to go over 1 min. End.

SV
Negron with a shot, RK with a counter and he gets behind and gets the TD. 4-6 DEC for Kanniard. Sloppy shot by Negron.

11-6, Rutgers at the half

I’ve never seen Penn State wrestlers get ridden like this. Negron had no chance after he was on the bottom the entire second period.

I know Cael and the staff are above reproach, but Beau should have taken neutral in the 3 rd period, up 3-2 with a minute riding time. Van Brill has no leg attacks to speak of and Beau’s defense is pretty good! What do people think?

Those were 3 very painful matches to watch from a pro-PSU standpoint. What can you say about Meredith give him an A for knowing he's going to get his *** kicked. Beau's ultimate result was very underwhelming.

I’ve never seen Penn State wrestlers get ridden like this.

Well, Meredith is not the starter, and was facing the #3 ranked wrestler, so him getting ridden wasn't a surprise. Negron isn't one of the stronger starters in the lineup, and Robert Kanniard is long and effective at using legs. Negron nearly got the reversal when he got the leg, but lost it while trying to free his own leg. It it what it is.
