Coach Paterno: “The idea is to have some fun, so who needs to be #1?” Even though it wasn’t the CFP, the players gave their all and had a blast while doing it. Let’s not forget the lesson of the 93 team, after dismantling Tennessee they realized that they could be really good the next year, 94. This Rose Bowl win feels like the 93 win over Tennessee.

My 2 cents after attending the game... Utah fans don't rise to the level of O$U or West Virginia fans... a few do, almost came to blows with a fat drunken idiot who started with the "Joe knew" chants right in front of me once the score hit 35-14. However, they booze hard, and I mean really hard. Guy next to me said no booze allowed at UU games so they are all in drinking at Bowl Games. They traveled really well, about 99.999% of them are white (and most with tattoos). Below is a picture of 9 year old with full mohawk in front of me. I was sitting in a sea of red as I decided to sit with a friend and his four boys, one of which is a Utah student (seat location picture below). I did not know this but Cam Rising was knocked out of Rose Bowl last year and it changed the course of that game as well. Utes around me kept commenting on the "tight" windows SC was throwing into. I told them all that CFJ is the worst P5 coach with a double digit lead in the 4th qtr of a big game. I really wasn't comfortable until it was under 5 min. Overall, I enjoyed sparking up a nice cigar once I exited stadium and walked 2 miles to an area where I could get an Uber. Third Rose Bowl was worth every penny.

This team is SOFT. No mean streak, no hard hits, just SOFT, SOFT, SOFT. Penn State built it’s reputation on tough, hard nosed football. Now, they are SOFT TRASH TALKERS. Nobody can tackle.
i don’t have anymore time to waste on this SOFT program. Bleep ‘em.

Most of the Utah fans I sat around were fine. We were in section 20 (about 15-20 yard line, behind the PSU bench) and it was a decent mix of fan bases. There were a few bad apples but all of them were young (20s).
  • A group of guys tailgating did a little taunting while my wife and I walked to the stadium.
  • Another in a row ahead of us kept turning around and giving the rows behind him double middle fingers and yelling "F___ Penn State" but that stopped early in the 4th. One second he had his head in his hands and then next moment he got up and left to which my wife said "bye Felicia."
  • Then on our way out of the stadium, I said excuse me to avoid bumping into a few young ladies with one of them seeing I was wearing white and commented that I have no excuse.
  • On our walk back through Old Town, some jag-offs who seemed drunk or just dumb were yelling how they had clearly won. They weren't talking to anyone in particular so no harm, no foul.
Vast majority we encountered were fine. We helped quite a few of them after the game since we live in Pasadena. On the whole far better than USC fans. We went to the Fiesta and Cotton Bowls and the Washington and Memphis fans were all fine to the point, I dont recall any sort of interactions with them.

Lavar Arrington to Nick Singleton. "you're a bad man."

Question. Is that a complement?

If memory serves me, I recall an Arrington quote in his last season at PSU about a young PSU running back who "ran with bad intentions" or something to that effect (a young Larry Johnson). So yes, I'd take that as a compliment.

You know, I have to say after all is said and done, Utah's first touchdown shouldn't have counted and the refs were total BS for confirming it.

Good win though.

Not at all. They very seldom impose their will on any team, and that was the point.
I get you EPC. I was yelling someone make a darn tackle at about the time you posted this. But with all the things favoring the offense in today's game, not one offense in the 3 biggest bowl games was stopped. Utah had the lowest points scored, and the last 7 was a gift.

So was the first 7. Hmm let's go see what everyone said when that went down.

Looks like about 4 people agreed with me. He didn't come up with the ball.

KLS posted this. It's a combo of pre-game video, in-game, and a good bit of post-game.
