PSU's remaining schedule now gets really interesting.

It’s going to tough to stay interested in those games with Cliff at QB. Will probably watch better games and check the scores periodically. If Allar starts, I’m in for all four.
And if they go 2-2 with Allar you’ll be on here bitching and moaning that the coaches didn’t have him ready. Maybe take a break from PSU altogether then?

MSU may be missing players after last nights brawl. The videos are pretty ugly. Maryland gives me more concern than the others they seem to be on a upward track
I think twice in the last six or so years we've heard "Michigan State is missing players due to injury/illness/discipline and we should win easily" only to, well, not win.

If Franklin finds a way to win out....kudos to him and the team- will have been a good season. But in years past he's managed to drop 1 or 2 to inferior teams.

Let's see how it plays out.

It blows my mind that an average-to-below QB like Clifford is going to leave holding many school career passing records. That’s based on being a 4-year starter, but it will still be his name up there.
It won’t look nice, but seeing it may help in putting things in perspective.

A whole lot of posters have used similar career numbers of the previous QB in attempt at elevating said previous QB’s performance above those of the few really good QBs that played for PSU in decades past.

Well, when you think of all time great running backs, does Evan Royster come to mind?

OK, the bet is on. I don't know why you have lost faith. The coach and coaches do not accept mediocrity. The players are developing and I think you can honestly say that were it not for the incredible receiver Harrison and the unbelievable playoff #44, we would have won that game. So, it's not like it was a blowout; it was our luck of a few key disruptive people. Parker Washington played a great game but we still need that burner who can cash in on long balls. On the defensive line, you know we need to make people bigger somehow and still keep them athletic. That is what OSU has that we don't. Singleton's speed needs to be brought to the forefront. He' a burner and they're trying little flare passes, but what has happened to those long runs. I know he can't do that all the time, but I am very tired of seeing him plow into the line and get 2-4 yards, sometimes a few more. Allen is the better back right now. If Singleton could run like Allen, holy **** would we have a tandem.
So, this is not pure mediocrity as you state. It's a few pieces missing here and there. Why we can't get the same type of kids OSU gets is a mystery unless the OSU kids are taken with poorer grades and the lure of NIL money, which I abhor but am going to have to get used to.
Hang in there, MacNit, but find a way to get your faith back. Maybe you losing the bet to me will help.:)
Gladly. But after 9 years of underachievement, I think it is time to try something new. Franklin enables mediocrity, the program is stale, and the results are undeniable.

11/17: @ Rutgers
11/24: Michigan State

If prior years are a guide, I can easily see 1-3 or 2-2 at best.
Indiana is a mess right now. They are ranked 103 in total offense and 99 in total defense.
Maryland is is decent but they are not the same team if Taulia Tagovailoa can't play.
Rutgers is a complete disaster. They have possibly the worst offense in college football. We will know a lot more about them after next week. This fight may be a huge distraction and I could easily seeing them quit on the season.

Underachievement for 9 years? Penn State has been under achieving since 1994 if you call all 9 years under Franklin underachieving.

Honestly, Franklin has lost his teams the last few seasons after big losses…he has to prove that he can avoid another meltdown and get this team to 10-2 as they should be (based on talent).
You mean like he lost the team after the Michigan game this year?

I wouldn't say the team is mediocre. The results are disappointing for the money spent on it. Under Franklin, it will seldom, if ever, challenge for championships. Assuming PSU wins out, what we're seeing is the ceiling.
Well clearly it’s the ceiling this year.

You are on.

A bet I am happy to lose!

Yes, I have lost faith. This team is mediocre primarily because the coach seems to accept it or have 1000 excuses.

And the results speak for themselves - pure mediocrity.
Then do us all a favor and leave. Go root for Bama or Georgia. The team lost 2 games to teams ranked in the top 4 in the country. Yeah they got hammered by Michigan but they played their asses off yesterday and could have won if they don’t turn the ball over 4 times. Anyone who thinks going 10-2 and the only losses being to teams in the top 4 is “mediocrity” is pathetic.

Pretty big "if" there. Turnovers are a factor in many games in determining a winner. I get your only two losses argument, but a counter to that, assuming they do win ten, is the quality of the opponents in those wins. Generally, it isn't all that impressive. Minnesota maybe, but their QB was injured. Purdue was an OK win, but we were just one unfavorable close replay review from losing that one. Auburn is a bit of a train wreck this year, although we did look very good in that game. But this leave the board and root for other teams stuff being thrown out by you and others is a load of nonsense. In other words, buy into the company line or get out. Opposing opinions will not be accepted. If you don't like those posts, you're not required to read them.

He got beat up physically. No offensive line depth and no substitution s today.
You just hit on the biggest difference between us and OSU. Go back and rewatch the game and specifically watch their substitutions on their DL.

Yesterday is not an isolated incident. Who knows what awaits us but a chance for a meaningful win this season has evaporated once again.

Mediocrity is being generous - certainly relative to the potential.

I predict we go 4-0 here despite some challenges from Maryland and Michigan State. Looking forward to Miami in December! FTG

Opposing opinions would actually be somewhat persuasive if they weren't just another ***** session. Post all you want; having a clue and objectivity is not a pre-requisite to posting here as you continue to demonstrate.

PSU should handily win every game left this season with Maryland being the only exception. Going to be a tough game and glad it is at home. Indiana is really down right now, and they just lost their starting WR who leads the team in catches and yards.

As it stands now, PSU might have a patchwork OL for Indiana if Olu, Tengwell& Wallace cannot play. Might have to play @ least one Freshman (Shelton) @ RT so Effner can play LT. Additionally, another Freshman, Vega may be pressed into action to spell Wormley @ RG and JB Nelson would spell Nourzard @ LG for rotation purposes. It could really be interesting. Might need the defense to gets PSU a score to win this one.

I'm going to go ahead and say we'll not only go 4-0, but we'll outscore our opponents 165-40 in those 4 games. You wanna bet?

It doesn’t surprise that an ex-gym coach would miss the preface…”if prior years are a guide”.

Go climb that rope
Lol pretty weak comeback. This program finally has momentum which hopefully only builds through next year. Posters may have thrown in the towel, thank God the players and coaches did not.

A preface such as “if prior years are a guide” serves the same purpose as “I don’t mean to be rude” or “No offense, but…” Trolls use these caveats because they don’t have the guts to stand behind their statements and admit they were wrong when called out.

Now, BW Lion, don’t take this the wrong way, but you are a hatted azz.
