Marshall was a gym teacher?
Was not a Physical Education teacher. Actually taught Social Studies/History before I became the Director of Athletics. But I can understand how a simpleton is easily confused. Especially one who has spent his life as an athletic supporter.
Being "objectively critical," can put a great deal of stress on a dedicated PSU Football Fan and confusion is understandable.

LOL. Didn't have a freshman softball team. In NY we generally field modified (grades 7 and 8) JV (usually comprised of grades 9 and 10) and of course varsity.
I had interest in History and Physical Education. My folks weren't rich so a state school was the ceiling. Wanted to leave home, so Bloomsburg University wasn't an option. Had a choice between Millersville, Mansfield, Slippery Rock and East Stroudsburg.

Lacrosse has just taken off in the past 5-10 years here in the Hudson Valley of NY. The NYSPHSAA calls their districts (PIAA) sections. I have worked in Section IX as a coach, AD and league coordinator for 50 years. The hotbed areas for Lacrosse are still Section III (Syracuse) and Section VIII and XI (Long Island).

Came here as a kid fresh out of college to teach and coach. Planned to stay a year and I'm still here. It's been good to me. As Paul Hornung once said...."I've gone through life on scholarship." While I never had a scholarship per se....every job I've ever held has been connected in some fashion to playing or coaching football.

Someone hasn't been to Troy or Wappingers Falls, among other garden spots in the Hudson Valley.
There are dumps....Poughkeepsie is crime ridden and Newburgh....but some beautiful views of the Hudson from West Point etc.
