Question About YouTube TV

I decided to cut the cord about 3 months ago and went with YouTube TV. The first 2 months, no problem. The last 3 or 4 weeks, it keeps freezing up or just losing signal. I refreshed and it was good for about a week. Today it started acting up again. It dropped signal 3 times in less than 15 minutes.
It is not the internet signal.

Is anyone having this problem? Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated. Maybe another streaming service?

Thanks folks.

I have YouTube TV and don’t seem to have that problem on my main TV which is a newer Sony. My older Vizio in the basement has that occur. I was told some older smart TVs have difficulty with streaming

This is (kind of) funny. We have two Sony Bravia TVs, and they’re virtually the same model though one is a year old and the other is 3-4 years old. The older one is upstairs (same floor as router) and the newer is on the main floor. The new one cuts out way too often, though the WiFi signal is strong. The place where we got both TVs said sometimes the newer models have weaker processors (my terminology). First, that makes no sense to me. Second, it wasn’t in the sales pitch/brochure.

Same for me. One TV is an.older Sony, occasionally it has to be unplugged and plugged back in but even that is rare. YouTube TV is the ****.

Just started Youtube TV two months ago after getting bled dry by Breezeline, formaly Atlantic Broadband. Two older t.v.'s , one smart, one not smart. I use a cheap Roku stick in both and had no problems with either one so far.

Try streaming youtube tv on another device like phone or tablet and see if the problem is replicated (make sure wifi only, no data). Also try other apps on the tv, and try to ensure they are using the same streaming resolution as youtube. You need to first troubleshoot, identify, and isolate where the problem really is.

Thanks. Have tried on iPad and other TVs (with and without a ROKU stick). I feel it’s an internet or router specific problem. My router gives the ability to connect to 5G or non-5G . I found that the TV I have been having problems with is connected to non-5G. I have since changed the setting on that TV and have not experienced a problem. That doesn't mean it's gone away permanently, because this happens intermittently and sometimes after even a few days. Will reset the router and hope for the best at this time. Thanks again.

I have had it for years and have multiple TV's. I never really have any issues unless it's my ISP which would be super rare. I also have decent bandwidth and a mesh network to repeat the signal. It's not YouTube TV more than likely.

Thanks. Appreciate the input. Things are going well lately, but I am going to
look into a mesh network.

Spoke too soon. YTV is experiencing technical difficulties. 😠
Was it a system-wide problem? YTV kept freezing up last night while I was trying to watch the end of the Heat/Celtics game. Thought it was an issue on my end. Rebooted my router and Roku, didn’t help.

I have had similar issues with my YouTube TV service. I have two top of the line Sony TV's and after a year or so they started buffering and being slow to load the apps each time the TV was turned on. These smart TV's tend to develop computer like problems, having a full Cache, being slowed by app additions, etc. The most reasonable fix according to my techies is for the use of a Roku stick to gain more consistent processing speeds.

That might be why I'm not having any issues with Youtube. Even though I have a "smart" tv I run all my streaming services through my ROKU stick.
I will say, though, that Netflix is notoriously slow in loading and that is on every TV I've seen it used on, stick or no stick.

Just curious since we're planning on going to YouTube TV soon. How much data and speed is needed. Xfinity has several plans to pick from.

Image isn't there but I meant to include the word "portable." My ideal Roku would be a USB stick with an ethernet port for home use but still small enough to easily travel with. The only ethernet models they offer are too large for that. I like to take my Roku when traveling to access my subscriptions.

My wife and I have been discussing going the Roku route, but keep asking ourselves the same question: why get a Smart if all you are going to go with a Roku stick ?

We have had a non Smart TV with Roku stick for several yrs now because most of the services we had, including YTTV, required the Roku.
TVs are adding the ability to watch so many of the popular streaming services directly, we are leaning that way (getting a Smart TV). Roku devices can be bonky at times.

Unfortunately will still need a Roku for a few streaming services that a TV won’t have.

Yes. I was trying to watch the game as well. YTTV took a lot of heat on social media for it considering they just bought the rights to the NFL Sunday Ticket. They said the game was the equivalent of the “Heidi Game”.

I use my LG OLED to access most services but I do still use the Roku or Firestick a bit. I actually access WNEP through the Roku. I doubt LG will be adding that anytime soon.
