**** all over our program, talk about how terrible we are, are negative most of the time, post the no one wants to come where, etc., still remain fans? Why not become fans of another program? I'd bet anything that someone in Jackson Arnold's camp (friend or family member) is reading this board. What do you think they tell him? Hell our fans are driving me from the program. I just don't understand the mindset, why hate something you should love? Why trash something you should build up. If you are disgusted with the program, why not just turn off? I understand it and was that way in the Croom Error, but I didn't trash the program constantly. Just take a break for a while, you're hurting the program, friends/family of potential recruits read this board. And don't respond with, "every fan base does it," because they don't. I have about as many OM friends/family as State. Even when they were down, I rarely heard them trash the program, their response was, "at least we won the party," or "we were busy redshirting Ms Americas." I'm betting that the most negative fans don't actually go to games or give.
So fans can’t be honest about the state of our football program? We should redirect any criticism? Sounds like our current administration.

"- If the frustration of others is driving you from the program, then take your own advice and 'just take a break for a while' by not reading this message board. You wont feel driven away from the program if you dont read the triggering comments that drive you away. Pretty simple. "

Possibly SPSDS ?

I think it’s just especially bad right now.

We were 2-10 and got skull-drug at home by Toledo, a MAC school that finished just over .500. We have nothing to beat our chests about outside a few games we lost by less than we should have.

It’s not like you can look at our recruiting classes and think they’re going to be what saves us from another disappointing season because nobody has any confidence in this coaching staff to use them correctly and nobody thinks these recruits are going to be with the team longer than one season anyway.

Then, we look at the transfer portal and we have 20+ players leaving and 2-3 coming in (only 1 from a Power 4). We know the reality is that the NCAA guardrails that were keeping us competitive (or at the very least watchable) have been completely removed and the socio-economic state of the majority of our fanbase and the state where our team is located will make it difficult to compete going forward.

Realistically, as much as this board bitсhes and moans about the current state of college athletics, they wouldn’t if we were winning. We’re not winning and it doesn’t feel like we’re going to start winning any time soon.

Very concerned and meddling are two different things. Thats why you hire an AD.
Agreed.

But what if the good up and coming guy you hire to be AD decides to ask an assistant coach at the university where he was at to be head football coach?

Now there’s nothing wrong with having people you’re comfortable with to work with you at other places— if they’re competent enough.

But 2-10 ain’t inspiring.

And since Keenum talks and knows a lot of people, you know people have told him their thoughts on this season…

After many decades as a State fan, my impression is..... State just doesn't have many hard core fans. State has to many grads that are disengaged or were never fans to begin with.

When I go back to Starkville and campus and spend time with local State fans, they are generally optimistic, positive. I don't hear people bitching about logos or uniforms or parking or cups. I generally hear positive things.

When I get back to the Memphis area or online, most State grads see things from 10,000 ft and see everything as half full. Most State grads aren't engaged and use losing and everything sucks as aN excuse to not make the effort.

Also other schools, media, podcast that crap on State and Starkville..... I think that takes a toll on people that don't get back and see for themselves. They just parrot what they hear on podcast or read.
That’s a legitimate comment for sure. I have friends and family living in Florida, and they came up for the game this past year. All are a mix of State and Florida fans. We have two entirely different types of campuses. The ones who grew up going to games in Gainesville were totally amazed at what we have here. From the “country side”, to the stadium, baseball facilities, and especially our campus.
I see all this stuff all the time and have become used to it all, but to someone new, they loved it. They couldn’t get over how huge, unique, and the way our campus was set up. Actually put a smile on my face.
We need to appreciate, embrace, and learn to sell our assets and strengths.

2-10 isn't inspiring but context matters.

Facts:
Leach died unexpectedly
Leach's recruitment style was very unique.
We have very very little talent on defense due to the above. Like no talent. Thats directly on leach and arnett not Lebby.
You can go 2-10 and still be a good coach. I can give examples if anyone is dumb enough to argue against that.

There is zero reason for Keenum to be meddling in athletics. Keenum should be having regular conversations with the AD to get updates and set expectations, but that is called management and leadership and not meddling.

I don't know how it compares to other schools but we definitely have a lot of moocher fans. I have friends who are and this board is full of them.

Example is when I list Scoreboard tickets on this site. I pay $1,480 per scoreboard ticket. Thats $211/game.

If i list them on this site for $150 for a game, it is a 29% discount. I have idiots on here screaming that i am taking advantage of bulldog fans. And I rarely have ever listed them for $150. Usually in the $50 to $130 range depending on the game and the season.

I said Selmon is tone deaf and Keenum is a poor leader. I'm saying the fans have become alienated because of the way things are being done/not being done. I'm not talking about the players here. This is about the supporters of NIL, the school, & team being ignored and pulled in a thousand different fragmented ways due to poor leadership. The goal should be to have everyone pulling in one direction but when they ignore those people and basically just want their money, it's a problem.
Still cant name a specific example. That is a serious problem.

If Selmon and Keenum are doing something bad or wrong, ok that sucks. But when you can't even list one example of what you mean then its sounds disingenuous and dumb.

I asked earlier if anyone could list our strengths to sell, and nobody has, until you. So we've got a nice, big campus. And leaning into our rurality. That's a start I suppose.

Could probably sell price I would think, too.

I agree. There is a difference in criticizing when there is a problem, which is what I think 6pack was founded on, and just all out dumping on everything MSU 24/7.
I have a theory. Most of those naysayers are Ole Miss fans just being ole miss people. The other is they don’t educate themselves and they thrive on negativity. That is the only way they can find importance in their lives. They want and live for the comments of those who try to placate them and make them feel better about themselves. You’ll do well to ignore them and let them grovel in their own weakness. Choose to be positive Life is much better that way.
