I hear you, but the item that most people miss is how much volatility exists in college baseball as a whole. There are no dynasties. No “Alabama football” or “UConn basketball” type programs have ever existed in college baseball, nor will they ever.

I mean, USC won 6 CWS titles in 7 years from 1968 to 1974. That's a dynasty in my book.

And 10 titles in 13 CWS appearances from 1958-1978. It was a very different era then though. Still impressive.

LSU in the 90s was a dynasty

7 trips to Omaha, 4 natties, 6 sec championships, nevrr missed a regional, won the regional 9 times

they also won it in 2000, but that technically wasn’t the 90s.

The game has changed substantially since that time….that was 50 years ago. There weren’t a lot of programs fielding high end teams in those days. Smaller MLB impact from the draft. Fewer issues with arm injuries. No refinement and specialization from travel ball. No offering schollies to 8th graders. And on and on. So many differences.

Its even changed a lot since LSU in the 90’s, too. And lets not all pretend like we don’t know what that was. Skip and the boys from that era deserve tremendous credit for being way ahead of the curve compared to the rest of college baseball on steroids / PED use….but obviously that was never going to be sustainable.

All that's true. It's not what I was responding to. You pretty clearly indicated above that dynasties hadn't existed. Obviously they have.

Fair enough. Should have modified my wording to state that they haven’t existed in the modern game.
