Awww, no! Loved his music. May he RIP. Here's an ABBA song that expresses my feelings:

Gordon Lightfoot was a Canadian singer-songwriter and guitarist who had a net worth of $40 million at the time of his death in May 2023. Gordon rose to fame in the 1960s and 70s as a pioneering folk-popartist.

I had the pleasure of seeing him in concert in the later 90's at the Pgh's South Side "amphitheater." His voice was tremendous but for some reason, his movements were closer to those of Joe Cocker's. My clue as to what was up was the fact that he was wearing brand new jean pants and shirt. At the first break, he went off-stage and changed into a much more worn and comfortable-looking jean's outfit. Suddenly - end of mobility problems! I laughed for halfways through the next song.
What a great balladeer! RIP Gordon😢

I have a friend who says they used to clear out their frat parties by playing the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald to kill the party mood.

My roommate in 434 Beam Hall loved that song.
Beam Hall was a good dorm. I lived on the 2nd floor. Close to all my classes. I liked North Halls. For dorms in the 80's it was one of the best.

So sad, fortunate to see him in a very small venue in Casper Wyoming in late 1980’s. Excellent performance.

Turning back the pages to the times I love best
I wonder if she'll ever do the same?
Now the thing that I call living
Is just being satisfied
With knowing I got no one left to blame
"Laughing eyes and smiling face
It seems so lucky just to have the right
Of telling you with all my might
You're beautiful tonight"

When they held the funeral for the sailors on the Edmund Fitzgerald in Detroit, the church bells rang 29 times (once for each sailor, as mentioned in the song's lyrics).

Last week, the church bells rang 30 times - once for each sailors and once for Lightfoot.

whenever I take my boat thru the Robert C Byrd locks , the lock master will radio and ask if I've ever done this before,
to which I respond, 'Captain and crew well seasoned, sir' I am not sure they get it though.
