I liked him in The Village. I don't think a lot of people liked that film, but I did. He was pretty good as the patriarch.

I liked the movie and his role in it. It's not very plausible, but interesting nonetheless...

Oh I don't think it's plausible at all. That said, I get it - Shymalan created a literal interpretation of something many people deal with - fear of what is the unknown, and outside their comfort. And Hurt was pretty good in his role.

Yeah, and (I'm avoiding spoilers) the premise was surprising in an entertaining way, once you learned the history of the village. Part of enjoying movies and TV shows is the ability to suspend disbelief.
