I’m going to say PSU comes in at 6 and they pick Bama over SMU. I don’t think they leave out the Bama brand just to keep CCGs relevant.

It HAS to be SMU. You’re asking hypocrites to stand tall so anything is possible. The top suit said there were no more data points for those teams not playing to be considered. You can’t penalize teams for losing in the CCG’s.
I agree that it should be SMU. But I bet the suits don’t want to leave out the Bama brand just for SMU and the sanctity of the CCGs.
6 vs Clemson looks enticing. Get a win and play Boise in the quarters. That would probably be the most favorable scenario for PSU right now.
If SMU gets left out you can safely bet on the following. In two or three year’s conference championship games will become a thing of the past. I can’t imagine a 1 loss team, ranked 8th in the polls and guaranteed a playoff spot will risk everything over conference championship game. If Alabama leapfrog’s SMU the college football post season to change significantly.

Agree - I think the committee is itching to move ND up.
And I think Bama over SMU.
Saban already poo pooing SMU. Clearly wants Bama based on SOC but doesn’t mention loss to 5-5 Oklahoma (*** whooping to boot) plus to….. hmmm hmmmmm hmmm……. Vanderbuilt.
I tend to think that we should be behind Texas but remain in front of ND. I don’t know what the committee will say, but a team that was idle this week ought not be rewarded just because they choose to be independent.
I think 6 is the spot we want.
We should be 5 and SMU should be in. Also I think there will be several changes to the format next season.
If we can beat SMU we get Boise State.....pretty easy path to the final 4
PSU gets SMU at home then Boise St in a bowl. There are certainly zero excuses here. Franklin and Co have the best path possible.
After years of looking outside in at the final 4, I LOVE THIS NEW FORMAT! I watched SMU last nite on TiVo, I’m confident we’ll beat them.
boise WONT be easy, but most def winnable. The layoff (3 weeks) could wreak havoc on them.
By far the best path! If we don't get to the Semifinals it will be a disappointment!
