Ohio State has to be on the BTN that week to fulfill their appearance requirement. So UM and PSU will virtually certainly appear on network games (FOX and NBC, CBS does not carry the B10 that day).

The time will most likely be released tomorrow around noon. Always a good question for those who actually go to the games because for many that requires some planning.

If the new contract still has 6 day holds, then I'd guess we won't find out until next Sunday.

Wondering if the fact that PSU empties out on Friday for the Thanksgiving break has any effect on the game time
Yeah I agree. If we beat Michigan and have one loss going into that game my daughter will probably be coming home on Friday and our crew will be heading down on Saturday morning. Effin kids! 🤣

The suspicion is that it does have 6 day holds. It’s not clear if one was used earlier in the season when there was a 6 day choice between FS1 and NBC on Oct 21 (but the games were already set for a specific time). mostly this season, there has not been a need for 6 day holds given the performance and desirability of tOSU/UM/PSU compared to the rest of the Big Ten.

So, there is a 6 day hold, but it does not affect the PSU start time (but the TV network is up in the air).

Kickoff at Noon. TV is either FS1 or FOX

Welcome to late season nighttime football, Wisconsin!

Interesting, after reading about the breakup between CBS and the SEC, they (the SEC) decided they wanted more control over kick times, not the network. (Half of 2024 start times will be known before the season!)

And the B1G seems to have gone in the other direction, allowing the networks complete freedom to pick times as late as possible. I've seen references to flex games next year, but "only" allowing one window flexing. (Noon/afternoon or afternoon/night). Fans getting another shafting.

The Big Ten is allowing what has been the standard for years for college football TV - 12 day announcement with a few weeks of 6 day holds (in the past, the Big Ten has allowed two weekends for 6 day holds per year and it wouldn't surprise me if that's the case with the new contract but it's possible it could be more). The Big Ten went for maximal exposure in terms of having 3 network games each weekend (and will be 4 next year some weeks with FOX doing some "after dark" west coast games at 10:30 PM or so) - the SEC will probably average about 2 network games a week next year and some weeks will only have 1 such game. The Big Ten will have three different broadcasters cross promoting the league, similar to what we see with the NFL and different networks.

But the SEC did get some kickoff time certainty since ESPN owns all the rights and has less trouble locking in game times since they can put games on various channels (ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SECN, and ESPN+) as they wish.

I get it, Doc. I can follow the money. And the SEC now has only one "network" and one "cable" net with multiple channels.

However, I think it's fair to say that one TV deal is fan friendlier than the other. And in that deal, the conference has some say. IT would appear that in the B1G deal (no pun intended), the conference has no say.

And, in a slightly related note, I don't believe the ESPN-SEC deal has any Friday night nonsense. I could be wrong, but I haven't heard or read of any.

It's really pretty simple: when you spread your legs for money, expect to get f*cked.
