Beamer has a very critical decision to make this offseason. Considering what he inherited in Year 1, he basically gets a pass for anything last year (though he overachieved). There were hopes of progress this year, but most fans are still probably willing to give him a partial pass as he continues to sort things out from the Muschamp tenure. Year 3, though, you've got to take some definitive steps forward. In Year 3 you absolutely cannot still be "molding into" what you want to be on offense. Fans expect to see something in Year 3. CFP? Of course not. But clear steps forward. In Year 3 you HAVE to be able to point to definite areas and say "we have made noticeable, statistical progress." The excuses that bought time in Years 1 and 2 won't cut it in Year 3.

You can get passes for Years 1 and 2. Fans expect to start seeing real results in Years 3 and 4. Year 5 is make or break if you haven't make substantial progress in the previous years..

With 2 years come and gone, Shane is basically betting his tenure at SC on Satterfield if he brings him back next year. If the offense continues to sputter next year, he'll have no choice but to bring in a new OC for Year 4. At that point, the new OC has to basically be successful immediately. Fans won't wait another 3 years for a new offense to be implemented. So it's a desperation move.

It's all up to Shane deciding just how confident he really is in Satterfield's offense. This decision will likely determine the fate of his tenure here.

There are no passes for SB...certainly no "2 year passes" - that is ludicrous. Muschamp offenses were better than the one we currently have, and had last year. I think last year we didn't break top 100 in points scored per game? This year has to be worse.
We got d@mn lucky with a couple of programs in turmoil last year (UF, Auburn) which helped the record. We all know that is not the norm...and we can't rely on that happening too often.

The next HC doesn't get a "pass" either...if there is a new one here in 3 months or 3 years from now there are no passes given. With transfer portal ability, you hit the ground running ESPECIALLY these days and aren't hamstrung by the previous staff unless there are sanctions that restrict the amount of players you can bring in. SB is getting off scot-free with a lot of you but this is 100% his hire. Many of us knew this disaster was coming. We're not out of the woods on defense either - very obviously. I'm very worried about the young/recruit talent gap that we have seen on that side of the ball under this current staff. It is going to show in the next year or so.

Well, by "pass" I obviously mean he's not getting canned after his first or second season. Nobody expects, or should expect anyway, that Beamer would have completed the turnaround of the program by this season. He inherited a team that had won 6 games combined in 2 seasons, so no reasonable person thought he'd come in and win 10 games in the first season. He didn't even get hired in time to have any impact on the recruiting class, so he had no control over the players he had to work with last year. Yeah, there's the portal, but ain't no top tier players lining up to play here.

Lembo is a keeper as special teams play has won games and White has shown the ability to make adjustments and keep us in position to win. Satt however has done neither and is negatively impacting the entire Gamecock environment including recruiting. Coach Beamer, loyalty is one thing but stupidity is a whole different ballgame. Don't make that mistake so many other fallen head coaches have made! In any other business, friend or not, non-producers are wished good luck and let go.

Yeah, I'm ok with White so far. The D took it on the chin early in the Mizzou game, but they rebounded and held them right about their average. We could have won if we'd had a pulse on offense. And the D was not helped out by all the offense drives that lasted barely 2 minutes or less.
