That it was a roll of the dice is unquestioned. Thing is, he was willing to pull the trigger in a big moment. In so doing, he elevated the potentialities of his season tremendously.
I agree. Playing at home, it was the gutsy move to make which paid off.

You can't say he doesn't have balls of steel. He won over the team and the fanbase with that courageous decision tonight.
Orgeron won a national championship and they had no trouble sending him packing shortly thereafter.

Well that does not have a damn thing about his ability to coach a football team.
Most certainly does. How you gonna go into a Louisiana recruits home and decline mommas gumbo. Because you're scared of Texas Pete. With a fake accent none the less.

The last three LSU football coaches have won national championships there. That's pretty incredible.

Two of those three have been fired - that's pretty incredible too.
I'm projecting that Kelly is a better coach than Orgeron ever was and that he won't be as crazy as "Less" Miles. He's an organization-type coach, sort of like Saban. I'll say this: age is somewhat of a concern. However good he is, 10 years will be about the life of him. They can't all go on into antiquity.

Orgeron won with a qb that had the best passing season in college history. You see what happened the next year

It’s better to hold all the cards, he did that.

respect the rest is noise & or social media traffic

In this day and age, you can't discount the rest. That's why coaches get fired mid-season so often now.

That OC going off to coach elsewhere wasn't helpful, either.
True but a qb that threw for around 75% would make any oc look good. Didn’t the OC go to the NFL. Not so good there if I’m not mistaken. Nevertheless, you make a good point

Well we shall see but his class is shaping up pretty good. La.produces quality prospects and I predict he’ll get most of them. Besides I was referring to his on field coaching.

Yet, if they have a few bad seasons they'll give him the same pack your bags treatment.
What will they give him if he has them in the Top 10-15 or higher every year? That is the greater possibility.

That was big boy football. It was shocking to switch to that game and then back to ours.

You mean what's already been negotiated in his 10 year 95 million contract that has incentives in it too?
I mean the new deal about four years from now that takes it out 10 more years at a substantial raise.

I'm not sure the new model for college football really expects coaches to go more than about 10 years - just another way in which college football is emulating the NFL. They want a quick turnaround. If they happen to find their guy while he's still young enough to be at the helm a couple of decades, all the better, but the priority is clearly on immediate short term success.

LSU has certainly made their expectations clear. Top 10-15 "every year" would be a strong resume, but make no mistake, that will not satisfy LSU if it's not accompanied by a national championship or two. In his 11 full seasons at LSU, Les Miles averaged 10.4 wins per season including a national title and playing for another. In his last 3 full seasons, LSU won 10, 8, and 9 games, respectively, and that was too much for the fanbase to bear. I'm sure Kelly understands the expectations and they don't include winning merely 10 and 11 games every year.

I'm predicting that, when he goes, it will be on his own, whatever that might require. If I'm wrong, well, I won't be be losing the house over it. Job, either.
