Agree, thought it was targeting with Young's head being the target.Looked like refs in most of Clemson`s games. They call PI anytime there is any contact whatsoever. And can someone explain why that was not targeting when the lineman hit Bryce Young? Looked like a no-brainer to me.
Was also a late hit on the play.Looked like refs in most of Clemson`s games. They call PI anytime there is any contact whatsoever. And can someone explain why that was not targeting when the lineman hit Bryce Young? Looked like a no-brainer to me.
If targeting was to be ruled out, which it was, roughing the passer should have been called. This was substantiated in one of the other televised games Saturday night. This situation was blatantly mishandled.Agree, thought it was targeting with Young's head being the target.
Yea, I saw that on the other game. But, once the QB starts to scramble and run doesn't he become just another runner and roughing the passer is not applicable? If targeting was to be ruled out, which it was, roughing the passer should have been called. Something I've learned after watching a lot of football is that all the refs suck, probably because they are human.
And they are always favoring whatever team we are cheering against.

We've been discussing a play that was discretely reviewed for targeting and missed in two different respects by people who were on the field, in the booth, and in Birmingham. There's just no excuse for that.Besides being human, they are also part-time employees. Actually, I think they could be independent contractors. Some make a great living at this - most have another job as well.
What this means is that the conferences disagree with the fans and think the refs are doing just fine. Or at least meet a workable ratio of “good enough calls/money spent”
