Spot on, buddy. It's weird to me too. That would make sense. As others stated, it most assuredly wouldn't be this year.
But that's what I fond odd. He still had a full year as a head coach. I didn't know they just started spring practice, and he chooses NOW to bail? And for a TE job?
Just weird.
Dear Teasley, You have talent to work with now. You also have an immediate replacement on staff now. God Speed, sir. That would make sense. As others stated, it most assuredly wouldn't be this year.

Would like to have seen that same scenario on the DC side with someone like Santucci on board.Dear Teasley, You have talent to work with now. You also have an immediate replacement on staff now. God Speed, sir.
I think if Beamer thought he could get a guy like that he'd do it...might still be in play.Would like to have seen that same scenario on the DC side with someone like Santucci on board.
Nobody knows what, if any, drama was going on at Georgia St. To me the move makes total sense in Elliott’s case.
Elliott is a South Carolina native who grew up bleeding garnet and black. I doubt there is another Coach on staff that can be said about. On top of that I read that his family never left Columbia and that he only took a slight pay cut.
From The State: On Friday, the South Carolina board of trustees’ governance committee approved a three-year contract (running through Dec. 31, 2026) that will pay Elliott $750,000 annually for the first two years and $775,000 in year three. Elliott earned a contract extension at Georgia State in 2020 and made $811,000 in 2023, according to the USA Today salary database. The upcoming season was the final year of his contract.
Again, never said he wasn’t a good coach. I just do not believe he was an OL savant like some do. Early did he improve the OL after Hunt, yes. But if you go back and look, you’ll see a lot of tackles that Latt and Davis ran through at the line of scrimmage. He did bring a scheme that fit Lattmore especially well. Elliott is probably the best OL coach we’ve had in a while, but Guge was better.Mike Davis was 18 yards away from having back to back 1k rushing yard seasons too. The man responsible for the OL and running game should get a lot of credit for that.
