The 2014 year may have been a little smoke-n-mirrors given some inflated rankings, but that is not unique. That is how the ranking system works EVERY year. Thus, the run was as real as anyone else's and the No. 1 ranking was justified at the time...at least as justified as many other No. 1 rankings for other teams. Embrace that season as a magical one regardless of how we finished. In the moment, we were on top and had the attention of the entire football community....when have we had that before...not under McKeen when football was good, but not anywhere what it is close to today. We had a great team and should have finished better. The coaching staff could have coached better. It was still one of the best times as an MSU fan ever. The only comparisons are the Final Four Team in 1996 and last year's Natty. I was there for the SEC West Championship run and it wasn't close to the same atmosphere as 2014.
