people in general hate hypocrites. all of you on here know that if there was a restaurant in starkville that had MSU signs all over the place and got good business from the college faithful there, the alumni and local businesses, yet didnt care to become a club member or give anything back to the university then people there would ask questions, write the newspaper, yell and holler and be pissed just as well, and rightly so. you know it's true and if you deny that then you are being intellectually dishonest.
I can honestly say that I don't have any idea whether any of the restaurant owners in Starkville belong to the Bulldog Club. I know I ate plenty of Abners while there, and that guys a big Rebel. I tend to eat at places because I like their food and without concern for which athletic program the owner supports. And that's completely intellectually honest.

if Abners was full of MSU stuff in the restaurant you would assume and so would its customers that Abners would be a staunch supporter of MSU Athletics. People would eat there more because of that support or at least thinking on that assumption and abners did this of course to pretend to be a supporter of MSU to get more MSU faithful in there for more business...but in fact abners did not support MSU athletics, did not support the growth of the university or was a club member. let's say you had a bind issue come up. no major thing right?. but this same manager and owner who splashes all this stuff in the place voted against it and was the head of the movement to stop it at all costs and was on board with the mayor to boot to stop it.

are you saying you would be ok with that? what would happen if you ate there and supported that restaurant thinking you were also supporting your beloved alma mater but in fact that place never gave one cent to MSU or had any interest in MSU?

if its a rebel manager, usm manager or whatever wasnt really my point. but using a University to draw people in for business for business sake only and thriving off that business and using that clientel by putting up university stuff all over the place yet not supporting back to the community that is supporting that restaurant is dishonest, unethical and bad for business -- especially when the word does get out about it and come closer to football season it will because theres at least 2 different grass roots efforts in the works in hattiesburg regarding this, the one that this thread is based on and a university grass roots effort as well. i have been to starkville and have friends that go to MSU and you can easily tell who supports MSU and who doesn't. there isn't any question. i live in hattiesburg now and everyone that has any clue knows who supports USM. they splash all the same stuff over their facilities as a sign of pride along with an eagle club member sticker right outside the front door for all to see. they bring in good business but its not all about just good business. they contribute to USM, they buy season tickets, they come tailgate and they come to the game.

if abners is run by an ole miss guy then fine. i dont have a problem with that. i dont have a problem with Clark in hattiesburg. what i do havea problem with is his knowingly business practice to pretend to be all for USM yet shows nothing or contributes nothing for the cause. if he doesnt support USM then fine i dont have a problem with that. jsut dont splash southern miss stuff all over the walls and floors like you care for USM when you don't. that kind of stuff pisses people off.
