Buddy of mine told me that SMU is staying in Harrisburg, they could not get a hotel in SC. Anyone confirm this? If true, they are gonna have to leave at 5am for a noon game… crazy

They usually stay at the Ramada on Atherton. I recall reading that the CFP handled all hotel reservations so it would be odd for it to be at Harrisburg.

Having used the On Location services before these are the "fan" sites. Not in anyway affiliated with the teams. On Location is, I think, the official NCAA travel partner.
Well, once they do find out the hotel maybe somebody can go pull a fire alarm around 2 AM?
Or put a fifth of Captain Morgan and a Liter of Coke in all the players rooms!
The visiting teams no longer stay there. I don’t know where they stay but it’s been about 2-3 years for that change.
I think they are at the Ramada - my brother had a room booked there and they moved him to the Penn Stater so they could have SMU stay there.
I don't think many will be since there are no affordable rooms in the area and getting to State College from TX is no picnic.
I can walk there from my house. After we beat the hell out of them maybe they can come to my house and drown their sorrows in some of my beer.

We were in Dallas a couple of times this year when SMU was playing. First was against FSU and ticket prices were insane. $250 get in. The next time, Pitt was in town and tix were ~$30. I can’t believe we didn’t go check off the stadium while we were there. 
Everyone who is graduating knew long before the CFP and all their family had already booked rooms. This is why SMU can't get a hotel nearby.
Really? I stayed there last year for a game and it was like stepping into 1985. Not clean and the amenities were very dated.
Yeah, I was also surprised by that. But, I have been there when OSU, Michigan and a host of other teams stayed there. Perhpas they have moved on to another (better) hotel.
But if you were planning to be in town for graduation and booked a hotel for Friday night thinking graduation was going to be over by Saturday afternoon. Graduation got moved to Sunday. Do you now need a hotel for Saturday night?
They moved Graduation to Sunday back in mid-April, so I'd think you would have had that covered before the playoff schedule was announced.
I did not know that graduation was moved back in April.
Suprised the university had that much foresight (and those expectations).

Many visiting teams still use Ramada, but some have switched to the hotel in Boalsburg by the golf course.
Every team is different. Some still use the Ramada but a lot have switched to the Wyndham which used to be the Elk Club I believe but Wyndham rebuilt it and took it over several years ago. One team in the recent past stayed in Williamsport for some reason. I know some of MD last game was at the Graduate on Atherton and the rest were at the Wyndham. One team, I think it may have been WV, stayed at that Bedford Springs resort and drove in the day of the game(it was a night game) when they came to town 2 seasons ago.
