going for it deep in our own territory at stupid times. 9 point lead and we do that dumb crap
Yep, thanks to Sellers' superman act we live to fight another day.going for it deep in our own territory at stupid times. 9 point lead and we do that dumb crap
Agree with the sentiment but disagree on the play call. QB sneaks are for "inches" - not a yard. Dumb play call. Hand it to Sanders.I for one, didn’t mind. I did not like being in the gun when you need a yard. Quite frankly, we should be able to get 1 yard every time with a 240lb QB and a 230 lb RB.
False. We were saying it was stupid during the game and they should have punted both times. Beamer's quirkiness didn't win the game tonight, and had they lost would have been the biggest factor. Seller's ability and some other dudes stepping up did. Yes, Beamer's aggressiveness has kept drives alive. I'll repeat this - his going for it on 4th downs I generally enjoy and think it's good; but you have to know when the moment is right, he was wrong 2x tonight. Technically 3x's since they got a mulligan when the officials blew the play dead late to review if Sanders made the line to gain on the previous 3rd down. Not every aggressive call is successful. We see it at the college level and in the NFL every football week.
Armchair QB’s with 20/20 hindsight are the only ones who KNOW what should have been called. They are right 100% of the time. However, coaches deal with realtime circumstances. If Beamer was indecisive and weak, the Gamecocks wouldn’t be sitting with 7 wins. And you all would be howling.
While you may not always like it, Beamers aggressiveness kept drives alive. I like it. He will grow in his decision-making. Sometimes it takes games like this where I’m sure he second guessed himself to round a coach out.
Beamer was WRONG at that moment in the game. 4th and 4 …
with the lead …. He was wrong … period .
He gave Missouri 10;points with his decisions.
I love Shane and I won’t to succeed forever, but he needs to calm down a wee bit.
LEADS , FIELD POSITION , TIME , SCORE, all matters…
I’m sure you were also saying “don’t go for it” on the successful calls, too.False. We were saying it was stupid during the game and they should have punted both times.
