We were hamstrung with that for near 2 decades & then it finally got broken up. Why the hell is it back this year?!

SEC makes the schedule. We could move Clemson to the first game of the year, but the last is usually rivalry weekend.
Yep....and then we are left to fill in the open dates. Clemson will always be the last game of the season IMO.

This is correct. We're agreeing to non-conference games years in advance largely based on history and experience with what we think the SEC
will schedule in the conference. We've had to adjust non-conference dates occasionally when there is a conflict. Conference games/dates are determined by the league.

I'm sure there are back channels between the schools and the SEC to handle any differences.
