I think 3 would be guaranteed. A&M, Texas, Alabama.
Why on Earth would you think Texas would be one of the guaranteed teams to get in? I'd say they're one of the the teams guaranteed to be left out. They would have zero Top 25 wins.

I'd say Bama & UGA are guaranteed and the the other 2 spots are up for debate.

Alabama and Georgia are in. Best wins. Best losses. Toughest schedules.

The debate would come down to the other 4.

I persoanlly think Texas beats Texas AM. Which puts them in, and TxAM out. So in my mind your picking between Tennessee and Ole Miss or the 4th spot. Which i would give to Ole Miss due to a slightly better resume in all spots.

I expect the pools to represent that this week. Tenn being the 5th team.

I agree with your sentiment that Texas doesn't have the resume the others do. However the AP ranks them 3 again this week. Which is a total BS ranking. But none the less there they are.

When Texas loses on the road at aTm, I don't see them dropping from 3 to above 10.

I agree.

I also would not be surprised to only see the SEC get 3. If there's any way they can use a situation to rectify another situation to make it look better, they'll do it. For example, the committee didn't want to pick between Texas and Alabama last year, because the hard, correct answer was Alabama, even though they'd lost to Texas. So they screwed FSU (due to their QB loss) to avoid having to do that.

I mean you're likely going to see Oregon, Ohio State, Penn State and Indiana all at 11-1. Obviously there will be another loss in there for the title game. Are they going to leave one of them out to add a 2-loss team from the SEC? You'll have Boise State, Notre Dame, Miami or SMU, and BYU or Colorado. So you have the #2 from the ACC and Big 12 crying, you may have undefeated Army crying, and maybe even Clemson crying if they stomp South Carolina.

I like it, make them (committee) work for their money.

i dont think there is a scenario were the sec only gets 3. Its clear where those teams are in the rankings, those temas and conferences have 1 avenue in.. thats to win their conf championship. Now that there are no undefeated teams left. Even a team like Miami. If they lose the ACC champ, they arent getting in and they know it.... same goes for Army. They want to be thought of as a real contender, they get Notre Dame. Beat em and you have a case.

Interesting scenario would be if Indiana beats (soundly) ohio state in Columbus this weekend. They'd become a 2 loss team whose resume would be similar to that of Ole Miss and Tennessee... and would basically be trying to get in on name brand alone.
