the "perfect" country & western song?
great back story on this song written by John Prine and Steve Goodman. Prine thought it was too goofy so he told him take his name off of it!

Forgive my not providing a link, but Carly Simon's "You're So Vain." How could it be any better?
Great talents Farrar/Tweedy and like most they had a shelf life together. Some many good singer songwriters / bands from the period of my life. It’s funny, I found all three of those bands in reverse order. Happened to hear “Drown” on the radio one day and thought it was Neil Young. Didn’t catch the name so I searched and searched until I found out it was Son Volt. Bought the album and loved it instantly (still do). Next, I ran into “Outasite outamind” by Wilco and Beinf There and lived that as well. It wasn’t until years later that I found out they were once combined as Uncle Tupelo and naturally all of their stuff as well.
As good as ‘Hallelujah’ is Cohen agonized over perfecting it - I think there are versions with several additional verses. Additionally, both Buckley and Wainwright do the better versions of this song than Cohen, which is a testament to its greatness.

That reminds me!
I never travel far…without a little Big Star!
Ah, wouldn't it be terrible if everybody liked the same things? Me, I think arrogance and absolute self-absorption deserve their own anthem.Legitimately one of my least favorite songs, ever. Everything about it is grating.
And the story behind these promo videos by The Replacements is an all time good one. Love those guys.
Who is Eric Anbel?Great talents Farrar/Tweedy and like most they had a shelf life together. Some many good singer songwriters / bands from the period of my life.
Some many great bands could be traced to Eric Ambel and his touch.
I don't think that Cohen ever considered that song finished, let alone perfected. He claimed to have written 150 different versions of the song and was known for singing many different versions of it throughout his career. It is a great song, and it is truly ironic that so many people consider it to be the perfect song.
Um...Bob Dylan, The Glimmer Twins.Top Five all time songwriters? Cohen, Lennon/McCartney, Paul Simon…..?
Carol king? Bruce?Top Five all time songwriters? Cohen, Lennon/McCartney, Paul Simon…..?
For example, I think this a great song, but I don't consider it perfect. I think it would be better if they removed about 80% of the backup vocals (doowop?!?).
These songs, on the other hand, I consider great and can think of no changes that would make them better.
I love the almost psychedelic vibe of this:
Crank this one up:
I love the visual story this one tells:
This is obviously very subjective so have at it.
OK, maybe not perfect but I like these
