Pettiford for Auburn can be a hot shooter. No matter what happens today, I just want to see South Carolina keep fighting. The silver lining with Stute and Thomas out is that Bulter and Conyers will get needed playing time which is important because I believe South Carolina will need these two to significantly contribute next season

Our last two possessions with Allbarn up by 1 were pathetic! This game was very winnable with Broome out. Another Gamecocks moral victory. Woulda, could, shoulda.

Coaching had nothing to do with those 2 missed FT.....
For over 4 decades, it has truly sickened me when I see scholarship basketball players that can't make 75% from the free throw line. They're on freakin' basketball scholarship. Now a days, they're also paid to play, thereby making them professional basketball players. 75% should be the minimum requirement. Make 3 of 4, jackasses!

Because it's more important to dunk on someone and make the ESPN Top 10... because we all know how hard it is to dunk.

A few years ago they said they were going to make carrying and palming a priority in officiating, and they tried... for a short while. But then it became apparent that it's so prevalent that they were going to be calling it non-stop, so they gave up.

For someone who grew up being taught basketball as a non-contact sport and to develop ball-handling, dribbling, passing and shooting skills, today's product is unwatchable. It's more akin to rasslin' than what I knew.

Lily white for sure! Chirch basketball? It has always been a contact sport. Less contact today than years past, particularly in the NBA.

Please clarify - what's the "lily white" comment mean? I'm not tracking.

And sorry, that's not they way the game was intended, hence the "foul" rule. It was designed to reward skill and precision over brute strength. But, like so many things, people don't want to learn the skills, they just want the recognition that comes from the flash - take the shorcut to "success".

And the contact has nothing to do with the lack of skills - apparently the NBA (gave up on it years ago) doesn't even have a traveling rule any longer and college ball is looking like they are starting to follow suit. Palming, carrying, traveling - who can be bothered with these? Let's just take dribbling out of the game altogether since they don't seem to notice if you do or don't?

Sounds as if you learned basketball in a church league. No contact? Was this when they shot underhanded?

I played high school and college in the late 80's and early 90's and we were taught contact. Yes, we learned to pass and shoot but we played rough. It's basketball. Most fans are complaining that the NBA is unwatchable because of the lack of contact and everyone is jacking up 3's. You lost me at no-contact.

So, you had the misfortune if being taught a lower skill level of the game; sorry to hear it. Sounds like playground ball where they made their own rules (no blood, no foul). Excellence is something worth striving for, because even if one falls short, they still failed in the pursuit of excellence, not succeeded in the pursuit of mediocrity. I guess if people can't execute an offensive or defensive move without hitting someone and fouling then they get frustrated and ignore the rules to make themselves feel like they're better than they really are.

I played football for a contact sport.

Still waiting on the "lily white" explanation.

We have a church league in my town that is 100% white boys (lily white). No contact and you can't play defense past the foul line. No fast breaks allowed to avoid contact. It's for folks like you that don't enjoy contact and/or think it's against the rules to touch another player. It's basketball for kids not capable of playing basketball. Basketball for folks like yourself.

Contrary to your beliefs, Flag football is not a contact sport.

Thanks, now I understand - you're a racist and insecure.

The good news is that there's still time to become a better man.

Here's hoping you don't take another shortcut in that endeavor... because there isn't one.

First time I've been called a racist against my own race. Interesting.
