Morning Everyone
Its great to wake up with another excellent win. Bring on next Saturday!!
Im 41 years old and have loves sports since i was a little kid. Over the last couple of years ive kinda lost the love or the enthusiasm i had previously.
Growing up in the 90s for me that was the best era of sports. When atmospheres were at their best, it wasnt just about money and competition was competitive.
These days, sports is becoming to corporate and a day out for all these influencers. You look at most matchdays and people are on their phone instead of watching the game. Its also become so expensive that a lot of people cant afford to go to the games. Its just a business now with the connection between clubs and fans lost.
That brings me on to you guys. I know college football has its problems now with the financial side, NIL and losing some of its identity. But for me it still offers so much more than the NFL and other professional sports.
ive watched a few different teams this season, and South Carolina is special.
The noise in Willy B from start to finish is unrivalled. It was like going back to the 90s. Every fan was engrossed and engaged in the game. No phones or cameras out. Just proper old fashioned true support. And i tell you something, it drove the team on to win that game.
coach Beamer is also building a great culture where players are fighting for each other and like a family.
The connection between the players and fans is also evident as well.
I cant think of many other sports teams where you have all of this.
The Gamecocks have ignited my love for the game again, and its not even about the winning. Its all of the other things mentioned above.
its a bonus to be able to watch the likes of Sellers, Sanders, Harbor etc. This is a really exciting team.
Already purchased my first hat from Amazon. Jersey next!!
have a good weekend everyone and onto next Saturday night!
