As I have said before - Kevin Warren is the Sandy Barbour of conference commissioners.

He had the easiest seven-figure-per-year job in sports, and screwed up everything he touched. B10 would have been better served if they doubled his salary in return for him never showing up to the office.
Penn Staters love to hate Delany (and, lets be honest, have some good reasons to dislike him), and Delany screwed the pooch wrt Rutgers - but overall, he was 100X the commissioner that Warren could ever dream to be.

I’d assume PSU vs MSU will play at noon and Iowa-Nebraska at night?

That said, it could be noon and 3:30. It’s just Jets vs Dolphins. Even New York and Miami fans will have given up on those teams by then. ;)

Why is Gene Smith so quiet about this now? He was front and center bragging about the new contract when it happened.

They all were (the various ADs and Univ Presidents). They also were - along with the usual sports media types - talking about $100 million per team annual media deal payouts.

The fact that none of them had the slightest idea WTF they were talking about should surprise no one who actually pays attention.

Every article that mentioned the new deal had "NBC...prime time games...C package of games...big $$". It was even discussed here that there would be more night games.

And somehow, these people didn't comprehend this? I'm not shocked but wow.

Is Nancy Pelosi a consultant on this? You gotta sign the contract so we can find out what's in it.

Hearing the PSU vs MSU game may be moved to Ford field in Detroit rather than Spartan stadium (???). I can’t believe MSU would even consider that.

Is it just me or does this actually benefit us? I mean the last few times we've been to East Lansing the weather has sucked beyond belief.
Plus I don't think they are going to be that good.
Agree. I think you'll see a lot more of our fans there as well. From what I understand, Ford is much easier to access from the airport then East Lansing.

The stadium sizes aren't that different and it's a weekend when a lot of students will leave campus - and most will go to the Detroit area. So, it's sort of like us playing a "home" basketball game at the Palestra over winter break.

I think our concession is agreeing to play on Black Friday and Sparty’s is to move the game to Ford Field. This has to benefit us, moving it off-campus and inside takes a lot of the variables away, making it more about the talent on the field, where we will have a significant advantage.

To add, while the crowd will still be partisan for MSU - a lot of their fan base and students are surely from the Detroit metro - having the game at Ford Field would probably lead to a larger number of PSU fans in the crowd.

The coaching staff should not complain about the short week. They get an easy trip, a charter and short travel to Ford in Detroit. That will be after two straight home games.

Michigan State now loses a home game, and has a short week after two straight away games. On top of that it’s at best a two hour drive from their campus to Ford Field.

BTW, wasn’t 48-14 a Black Friday game?

Be honest. Who would you rather be?

That field has one of the worst turfs in the NFL. That is where Von Miller tore his ACL.I hope there are no tragedies in that game because of the turf.

Keeping things current:

Two months after the NFL Players Association called for a ban on the type of turf used at Ford Field, the Detroit Lions are installing a new surface for 2023.

The Lions said Monday they are switching from a slit-film turf to a monofilament field turf, which is considered the most grass-like surface of the three kinds of turf used in NFL stadiums.

Installation, which was originally scheduled for 2024, is scheduled to begin this month as part of a package of stadium enhancements. The team said the decision was made to move installation up one year "once it became unlikely that we would host a home playoff game this year."

The story of the Big Ten

"Penn State made significant concessions for the good of the league."
This does not seem to be a big deal. MSU is the one getting shafted. They lose a game in East Lansing, they play a short week after two away games, and they even have to take a two hour bus ride to the game.
