1. Our OL right now is TERRIBLE. We get zero push upfront right now. Zero. Getting Carmon back for this week will be huge and should help- Clausell will be pretty good eventually, but he isnt ready to play full-time- he needs to be rotating. Day is playing ok- but he lacks the upper body strength a little still- he needs to be rotating in- not starting. But since we have had no choice- thats why we are struggling- I dont envy Hevesy at all- he has a tough 17'ing job right now- I bet he didnt sleep at all during LSU week. Jeez. We may need to become Auburn and not run hardly anything between the tackles- forcing the issue on the edges.<div>
</div><div>2. Ralph is in no way perfect- his INT was just a complete lack of knowing what coverage the defense was in- but our WR's are almost never open. The CB's are running step for step with our guys on those deep routes and there is not much of a window to throw to- but he could give them a chance to dive and catch it. Look at the Perkins TD to end it- perfect throw. He scrambled around and made some great throws. But you NEVER see any of our WR's running open like you do for other teams.</div><div>
</div><div>3. 3rd and 4- next to last drive in regulation- we went trips left- La Tech was confused on getting lined up- Bumphis was uncovered- Relf sees it-Relf thinks he is going to get the 4 yards and just turn around and catch the ball like you are supposed to do in that situation when you are uncovered-Bump just jogs off the line at the snap, andhas yet to figure out he was uncovered- Relf throws it and it lands at Bump's feet while he is still running- making Relf look stupid- but in fact Bumphis is the moron and cost us a 1st down in a critical situation.</div><div>
</div><div>4. The play we run where we fake it to Ballard and then he streaks down the middle of the field is a good play in theory, but its hard as hell to complete. You cant get enough angle for the back to be able to pick up the QB- you cant see directly behind you, the human neck doesnt allow that, but when you add shoulder pads and a helmet- that decreases visibility even more for the back as he is running full speed. Can any of you run full speed and look directly behind you? We have to do something to move the QB on the play to get a line of sight for the RB to pick the ball up</div><div>
</div><div>5. Our playcalling sux. Down right sux- no option or veer last night, no bubble screens, no regular screens....what-the-17-are we thinking????? La Tech's defensive staff was calling out our plays in the 2nd Q before we snapped the ball- we did better in the 2nd half- but not much.</div><div>
</div><div>6. La Tech's OC lost that game for them last night. 3rd and 2 or so late in the 4th and you are going to check to a fade against Banks? Really? When you have a FG locked up? 2nd and 5 in OT and you are going to force a 5'10 QB to make a throw over the middle on a straight drop???? Thank you. He did notice our coverage on short side trips though and exploited the hell out of it. They hurt us with that 6 or 7 times in the 2nd half alone. We were zoning and not getting anybody out in the flats- leaving the wide man open for 6-7-8 yards a pop.</div><div>
</div><div>7. Speaking of their OC- it was killing me last night that I had his signals figured out to the point I could tell if they were going to run or pass- and had the signals for the G-play and the inside zone. I wanted to yell what was coming to our defense so bad I was going out of my mind. Shirley our defensive staff had someone watching him trying to decode as well.</div><div>
</div><div>8. Chris Wilson needs a better plan vs Spread teams. What we are doing now isnt working. Our DE's cant penetrate and force a bubble for the offense to have to run around on the G-play (g-play is when the guards pull and kick out) or sweeps- we get a stalemate at best with the DE's. We are going to have to adjust what we do vs those formations or Spread teams will continue to hammer us with it.</div><div>
</div><div>9. We ran a coverage last night- I **** you not- that had Cam Lawrence playing deep at F/S. I'm hoping that was a sight adjustment for that one play because we knew what they were going to run coming out of that time-out. If it wasnt and that was an actual plan- then Wilson- you are an idiot- dont ever 17'ing do that **** again</div><div>
</div><div>10. Our LB's are confused. I think they could be better- but they are playing tentative because it looks like they arent sure of wtf to do except for Lawrence. And he is busy before every snap making 3-4 calls and getting everyone lined up- I've never seen a LB making that many calls and **** before a snap. IT LOOKS LIKE WE ARE TRYING TO DO TOO MUCH ON DEFENSE- and because of that- we are tentative at LB. Also, not settling on starters means less reps for each guy in practice- which also hampers you. Think about it- 1st group last year was always White, KJ, and Gatling- and they got all the 1st team reps. This year- we are constantly rotating people getting reps because we cant figure out who needs to be playing- which ends up shorting all of them on quality reps.</div><div>
</div><div>11. Our secondary lacks some speed and quickness in coverage- but they lay the 17'ing wood on WR's. Dont think that doesnt play a part in WR's heads seeing that **** on film before they play us- that critical drop La Tech had on their last drive of regulation, he took his eyes off the ball because he knew someone was coming to knock his 17'ing head off</div><div>
</div><div>12. Our defense will play better vs conventional 0ffenses- less thinking and less pressure on the DE's to make plays like you have to in the Spread. Thats why we played better vs LSU and while they will play better vs Georgia.</div><div>
</div><div>13. I love that Mullen put Farvuh in on punt return. There's your chance- not shut your leprechaun mouth.</div><div>
</div><div>14. I dont know what we are going to do on offense- our OL isnt very good- our QB is not a dropback passer- and even if he was, our WR's have a helluva time getting open and cant even figure out if they are uncovered or not. Hopefully we can figure out something quick- Georgia is beatable.</div><div>
</div><div>15. And for those of you bitching- thats the 1st time we have beaten La Tech in a long damn time is it not? Just sayin</div><div>
