1. Is Drew Allar trying to get Michael Penixs phone number?

2. It would have taken a miracle to win if Penn State had just taken the one PAT instead of going for two, but with Franklin failing the two even Jesus could not save them.

3. Harbaugh must have called in at the half and told them “Don’t even bother throwing the ball, their offense can’t hurt us.”

4. Did Yurcich forget everything about coaching offense that made him a hot OC commodity, or did he just meet James Franklin and pay the price?

5. Did I hear Franklin say they called a game to give Allar confidence? A passive aggressive way to throw Allar under the bus.

6. What happens next year if Manny goes to greener pastures? They lose their two best guys on the OL, their best TEs and several NFL prospects on defense. Michigan State might get Lance Liepold at coach and Oregon, UCLA, Washington and USC join the B1G. Making the playoffs might not be the foregone conclusion some think.

Just curious, why do some posters think Yurcich was a hot commodity before coming to Penn State.
The data shows Yurcich rode the coattails of other offensive gurus.

Historical facts show:
- Yurcich was never the OC at Ohio State (offensive guru Kevin Wilson was the OC)
- Oklahoma State under Mike Gundy already had a reputation for high scoring offenses before Yurcich’s arrival as OC
- At Texas, Tom Herman was already known as an offensive guru before Yurcich was hired as OC
- Penn State, never known as an offensive juggernaut, is the first time Yurcich has been an OC without a HC known as an offensive guru.

It fits the narrative that they are projecting.

Penix, Williams, & Nix will also move on next year. The USC defense is definitely on the verge of being championship caliber.
Nothing is ever guaranteed and no one is entitled to anything.
Ohio State & Michigan are just better right now. Maybe that's why they're ranked #1 & #3.
How many times was Penn State favored in those Top 5 match-ups?

Yes, we all want to see the program take the next step. Some very much want to can the Coach that got the program to the point of even being able to see the next step.

I'll hang up and take my beating. But next week, I'll still be rooting for the Blue & White.

I'm old enough to remember Dick Vermeil saying on a national broadcast, "Penn State's offense sucks." Kerry Collins quarterbacked that team.
He also quarterbacked the team to an undefeated season the following year. I'll stay patient with Allar.

I'm sure there is a guy out there who would willingly take much less money, recruit at a much higher level, and be both an offensive and defensive X and O genius. After all, those guys are littered throughout the football world. (That last sentence was sarcasm. So was the comment about the USC defense.)

The same people that said, "8-4, 9-3" at the beginning of the year are now telling us 8-2 is appalling and abysmal.

Penn State football owes me nothing.

I look forward to the Rutgers game next week.

Franklin is the Grim Reaper of OCs.

1. Even with subpar WRs, our offense shouldn’t be this bad. I’ve seen plenty of teams scheme up systems that feature RBs and even TEs. I’m not even sure what MY is trying to do at this point? With that said.. Allar’s development hit a brick wall this year. I was at the WVU game watching him throw for 325+3 tds and thinking “wow, we might actually have a QB that could win us a shootout”. Mind blowing, to say the least, to see where Allar and the offense are 9 games later.

3. exactly, they knew our best chance of gaining momentum was to cause a turnover. But they absolutely bullied us. They could have scored 31+ which leads me to my next point - the defense wasn’t particularly good today. They ran for 230@5ypc when we knew the run was coming!!

5. he said they should call plays to get him in rhythm. But the same thing happened at OSU.. why were they still not able to do this 3 weeks later? Screen passes, hitches, etc. that’s the thing that pisses me off the most about Franklin - there’s glaringly obviously things to fix but he makes zero changes. Especially if it’s pointed out by the media.

There's no sense of how to manage a momentum swing in our favor. Yesterday it was after scoring a TD just before the half. Kicking the PAT would have lead to great momentum going to the locker room. Instead, a failed two point try muted that. Against OSU, failed trick plays were run immediately after a long gain on a pass to the TE and after the turnover on a punt. Certainly the plays weren't meant to fail but it wasn't the right situation for them.

It makes me wonder how much practice time is devoted to trick plays as opposed to getting reps for the standard offense.

The worst part for me was how Michigan just played with us like a cat with a mouse. The beat us the way they wanted. Early in the game they completed pass after pass and could have beaten us through the air. Then they decided to beat us on the ground and didn't throw a single pass in the second half -- 32 straight runs. Michigan made a statement. They are better than us in all respects. Their players have much more overall talent and the talent is much deeper. We have a few stars on defense. No stars on offense. Michigan is two deep at every position. They could do anything to us that they wanted. We had no counter for whatever they decided to do. If they would have mixed in passes in the second half the final score would have been something like 48 - 16. Michigan essentially choose the final score and we had no response.

Nowhere more apparent than when a 340lb DL chased down our RB.

Offensive guru Franklin has his fingerprints all over this offense…not sure this is 100% blame Yurcich (though I wouldn’t mind seeing him go).
Unless you have attended practices or been on the sideline you have no idea to
what extent Franklin meddles in the play calling. FWIW, his post game comments about the offense getting in a rhythm and calling some plays which would be easy throws for Allar was spot on. Did this against Maryland but for some reason turtled up against Michigan.

Like hell they don't owe us anything!

Bottom Feeder Franklin is paid $8.5 million, before bonuses. The players drive free luxury cars and earn big NIL money.

The fans have contributed to NIL collectives and donated to the athletic department.

We deserve competence and we can complain any damn time we want. We PAID for the right.

This is not 1980. This is a professional game now. These people are paid to achieve results. When they fail they deserve any criticism they get.

Good grief.

I hear ya, but if Mich could choose the final score I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have been as close as 24-15. They probably like as about as much as we like them.

To me head coaches have a philosophy about Offense and Defense. For Franklin he doesn't seem to be really invested in the defense and lets the DC do their things. I do find that most have been aggressive with pressure so I would say that is what he wants them to do. This past week you saw the weakness of being light and fast. Michigan went heavy and it was a struggle.

On Offense he is a pretty strict shotgun run/pass option type of coach. In my opinion that is where all of Penn State's problems start. There is something schematically wrong with what Franklin wants to do. I have my own thoughts but that is what they are. I am not a coach. I just can't get past the fact that PSU needs NFL caliber RB's to have a chance to be successful running. They haven't put a ton of OL in the NFL but there are enough that it shows there is a problem somewhere that isn't purely talent.

I see much worse teams be able to move the ball offensively in a manner that doesn't look as difficult as Penn State makes it look. I have to believe the problem is with the head coach and his general offensive philosophy that his OC's must follow.
