Gotta love them making fun of South Carolina football. I was checking and the last time North Carolina was in the top 10 just for a moment was 1997. I couldn’t find a pole where they finish the season ranked in the top 10. We did it three times in the last 12 years.

So what did they say?

Yep, I was not aware he was their leading rusher last year. Had almost 700 yards, which is more than our leading rusher had. Beamer pointed this out and noted that keeping him contained is a key to the game for us.

I'm going to have an ulcer by the time the game gets here on Saturday.

I agree that he will probably be VERY frustrating for us.

I think our LB's and Safeties are athletic enough to contain him on the perimeter.
It creates problems, if safeties are guarding the perimeters, that exposes the CB's on mid to deep routes, it you keep the CB's within 5 yards of the LOS, that leaves safeties to cover a lot of ground underneath.
If a play breaks down then that leaves the LB's in no mans land.
Like I said, problematic. Not insurmountable, but problematic none the less.

Agree, it can be problematic. I think we have the personnel, with our secondary being one of the best in the SEC, and with our overall speed and practice time, we are prepared for it. We'll see how well prepared we are on Saturday.

I believe we were ranked 6th in the SEC, not exactly one of the best.
Even if one was to decide that the passing defense is one of the best in the conference, it is a direct by product of a woeful rushing defense. Ranking #117 nationally last season.

I think calling it a direct byproduct is a little absurd. That secondary had 2 freshman all Americans, a 2nd round pick in Smith, and Rush (who is expected to get serious PT as a rookie in the NFL). That was a very talented group. That group held UT to one of their lowest outputs of the year.

I know Rush and Smith are gone, but I trust Torrian Gray to put a very solid group out there to replace them.

Plus, as it relates to UNC, they lost their top 2 receivers (by a mile), and the one guy they got to replace that production is unlikely to play. I don't think it's going to be on the secondary to win, it's going to be on the DL/LB group....with Nick E playing up near the LOS.

Argue if you want, but our rushing defense as I stated was ranked #117 in the country, if a team can rush at will, there is little incentive to pass.
However, the stats are not mine, if you have issues with that, take it up with the DC.

We checked in right about middle of the pack for opposition passing attempts/game at 32.2. Come in pretty low (90s) on opponents yards/attempt at 12.4 (UNC was 12.2).

We were close to last (118) in rushing yards allowed/attempt (5.1) and were very low (107) in rushing attempts allowed/game.

Our pass D was unquestionably better than our run D but it is true that it did not give up as many yards b/c teams didn't throw as much.

No idea how this will shake out for UNC. They were very one-dimensional last year. If they can run on us, it's game over. Being one so one-dimensional SHOULD allow us to lock down on the pass, but who knows? I guess the best QB faced last year was Hooker. He was 25/42 for 247 yards and they only ran the ball 25 times, so we managed well in that game against a very pass-heavy offense.
