This wasn't even true in the 90's when Boomers made this saying popular. It would be good for you to enter the current decade
You couldn’t even have visible tattoos in the military until a few years ago. Visible tattoos in the workplace have definitely been frowned upon until maybe Covid. I don’t know what industry you are in, but white collar jobs and visible tattoos are not common.

what are the positives?

Do you think this is on the same level? I definitely encourage people not to get a tattoo.
You know… to each their own. But life is too short to care what other people think.
There aren’t really any positives but potential negatives.
I like having artwork on me. It makes me happy to look at my tattoos. And people compliment them all the time. Which is plenty positive.
Could limit job opportunities, etc.
I think this is more old fashioned thinking. Tattoos are WAY more mainstream these days. And it’s so so so easy to coverup most tattoos if you’re really worried about that.
Some Country Clubs want allow admittance. Things like that.
Oh no! I can’t get into a country club anymore!

So that was my question. Why are they more mainstream?

This is a wild take. It really is like you are playing a character from 50 years ago.

What are you even talking about. I work a white collar tech job and 80-90% of people at my company, and in tech in general, have tattoos. Have you been living under a rock?

I wouldn't step foot on one of those courses. The PGA has no rules against tattoos. Most chefs and farriers have them to cover up for burns.

I figured most tech guys were too nerdy for tattoos. Maybe an IT specialist. I don’t know many bankers, lawyers, doctors with them.

what are the positives?
Cultural definition and pride for one thing. Individuality for another. Which has been occurring for over 5,000 years.

Dudes an angry psycho but your takes have been quite odd and old fashioned the past 48 hours
I prefer traditional.

Now I do like to wear shorts and I get in trouble for not dressing appropriately sometimes when pants are the expected attire.
