Good question. Don't really know.

The funeral home posted the notice just today, possibly later than you did your search.
The one link posted went to his Facebook page. Somehow I saw a post from his son that he had blood clots or something similar on the brain. But I can’t find the post now. Probably why he was way over in Salt Lake and the arrangements were from a funeral home there. Lander looks to be 4+ hours from Salt Lake City.

He was only 62, I think. Way too young (I’m much older). Lander is really in the wilds. But if that’s your thing, it’s great. Thinking there are no “Steeler or Tar Heel bars” in Lander. He probably was the single, only fan of his many sport teams there. RIP Glov.

Found the post. From son, also Robert, he says, “please share with anyone who knows and loves my dad”. That is certainly the McAndrew Board….……….

Life is so uncertain. Glov was posting here less than month ago and now he is gone. By all accounts, he lived his life to the fullest, as we all should. Tomorrow is promised to no one.

I still can’t believe it. Even though we’ve never met (off this board), it feels like we’ve all lost a good friend. He was always polite, friendly, and had a good sense of humor when it came to the Flyers vs Pens and UNC vs Duke rivalry posts.

Every time I hear of a shark attack or sighting along the coast somewhere I’ll be thinking of Glov.

I think we should keep the shark thread going.

Glov started multiple shark threads on the old board.

Since we moved to the On3 platform, I think he only started one shark thread, and so far it only has his post in it.

Damnit, just saw this tonight. Glov was always up for a good debate, but never got mean-spirited, and was always respectful. He was one of the best. And now, after more than a decade of our debating, I will concede to Glov, the Pirates should’ve drafted Machado over Taillon.

Rest In Peace friend.

This board has always felt like an on-line version of the Cheers bar. The regulars make the place, and when we lose one, it's a real loss and it hurts. I don't know how you miss someone you never met in person, but I know I'm going to miss Glov.

Thanks for posting the Obituary. It fills in a lot of gaps. I had no idea Glov was a teacher. Oh, how I wish I could have sat in on one of his classes. :)
The Obit confirms what we all knew. He was a good and decent man who died far too young. Rest in Peace.
I would have loved to have been a student and walk into the classroom wearing a Duke hoodie!!

The Glov posted the meme below on April 18 to his FB page, a philosophy we all understand well and while this alone would not define him, it's one of the things we loved about him. Now we also know he was a teacher, giving us more insight to his approach. He had this as his FB 'intro': "If you apply yourself, you will succeed. It is as simple as that."

I maintain a memorial page for my high school class and in so doing always try to add a picture. Then when we think of those we lost, it's more than just a name and thoughts.

Bob was a truly nice man. Going back, a lot of years we established an email correspondence on things Pittsburgh and more specifically on Pierogies Plus. After a while he wrote something to the effect that I was actually being nice to him. I told him not to expect the courtesy to extend to the boards. He said "likewise.," and we carried on our merry way.

He was very sweet and I will miss him.

I have to be honest, this is still hanging heavy in my heart. I was able to go visit his obit and loved the fact he was a teacher (I am the son of two teachers). It is really crazy that the passing of a man I never met, nor really knew by name, could have such a strong affect on me. I fondly remember he and I going back and forth during Bs/Pens playoff series. I am really really going to miss his posts.

I hope, somehow, Glov knows how well loved he was here, and on the old board, and the effect he had on so many. Certainly I hope his family is made aware of the deep affection that is reflected here as it may give them comfort.

Glov was a good man with a fine sense of humor. I’ll fondly remember him for those qualities. I’m positive that he’s already been elected as the President of Heaven’s “Sharks 🦈 are Useless” and “Duke Sucks” fan clubs. RIP my friend.

There you are, Cincy. Stupidity on my part, but until now, I never made the connection to your old board name. That draft debate was a good one. I still see both sides of it.

P.S. One of my better recollections of Glov was that he and Fairgambit were instrumental in helping you and I defuse a long and senseless vitriolic exchange over what at the time seemed to be a key Pirate loss during the late stages of the 2013 season. Glov handled it in his typical humorous manner. Thankfully, we dropped it and put away the swords.

YEP....my thought also....saw this article today and Glov immediately came to mind.
I believe The Glov would have loved this one:

'I was completely inside': Lobster diver swallowed by humpback whale

PROVINCETOWN — At a little before 8 a.m. Friday, veteran lobster diver Michael Packard entered the water for his second dive of the day.
His vessel, the “Ja’n J,” was off Herring Cove Beach and surrounded by a fleet of boats catching striped bass. The water temperature was a balmy 60 degrees and the visibility about 20 feet.
Licensed commercial lobster divers literally pluck lobsters off the sandy bottom, and as Packard, 56, dove down Friday morning, he saw schools of sand lances and stripers swimming by.
'I want to apologize to the whale':Lobster diver tells humpback tale on 'Jimmy Kimmel'
Lobster diver Michael Packard, 56, of Wellfleet, gives the thumbs up Friday morning from Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, where he was taken after he was injured in an encounter with a humpback whale Provincetown. He was later released from the hospital.

The ocean food chain was in full evidence, but about 10 feet from the bottom Packard suddenly knew what it truly felt like to be part of that chain.
In something truly biblical, Packard was swallowed whole by a humpback whale.
“All of a sudden, I felt this huge shove and the next thing I knew it was completely black,” Packard recalled Friday afternoon following his release from Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.

“I could sense I was moving, and I could feel the whale squeezing with the muscles in his mouth,” he said.
Has a man ever been swallowed by a whale:Sperm whale swallows a Cape Cod man off Cape Verde islands 150 years ago
Initially, Packard thought he was inside a great white shark, but he couldn’t feel any teeth and he hadn’t suffered any obvious wounds. It quickly dawned on him that he had been swallowed by a whale.

“I was completely inside; it was completely black,” Packard said. “I thought to myself, ‘there’s no way I’m getting out of here. I’m done, I’m dead.’ All I could think of was my boys — they’re 12 and 15 years old.”

As a retired social studies teacher...35 years...I am having the same feelings as you. This board just seems a bit more empty today, and like you, feeling sad about someone I never met. Being Glov's age, kinda weird finding something about oneself. Never thought I could feel this way about someone I never actually met in life.

Nope. For whatever reasons, we didn't discuss personal matters. Only found out about his relocations when he indicated them on the board. Mentioned that I saw them, wished him well, and left it to him. He never elaborated and I respected his privacy.

I suggested it back on the last platform, but I think we should have a sticky thread listing all of the board regulars who have passed. Glove would certainly be worthy of such an honor. Not a thread for each, just one post for each of them.

Well damn, this is such crappy news. After the 3OT win for the Pens the other night, one of my first thoughts was that "Glov would be happily posting away on the board tomorrow." Did not get a chance to really check but thought of him again last night after the Rangers laid the Pens bare. Certainly going to be missed. Even in disagreement he was always affable. RIP Glov!
