Loved Glov. He never, and I mean never surrendered in a debate. It was hilarious when someone would start in with him and not realize that he'll never give up. That was one of his quirks I really liked.

Ha! That perfectly describes my first encounters with him 20 or so years ago. I don't even remember the topics, but he won. He won a lot and was a very gracious winner.

Ah damn, I kind of had a feeling that’s what the “terrible news” was what with the missing posts the last few weeks.

Funny how even though I’ve never met him in person I still feel like I lost a friend. Got into a few exchanges with him about duke-UNC and pens-flyers but always felt like Penn state was the common ground so I gave him a pass. That’s what this thing of ours does to people. When you disagree with someone on here it’s like saying “he’s an a$$hole, but he’s MY a$$hole”.

RIP Sir. Truly an original that won’t be duplicated.

Damn, sorry to read this. Tgar will raise an Iron City in his honor tonight. Safe Travels Glov, and when you see that bear chasing you damn some back country slope use the bear spray.

RIP and thoughts to all of your family and friends.

Michael Kay the Yankee announcer has a daily show on WFAN and he closes each segment with "life is a series of hellos and goodbyes.....unfortunately its time to say goodbye." It does seem that the hellos are reserved for our youth and the goodbyes come in abundance when you reach my age. Glov will be missed. RIP

Very sad news and a huge loss for us here. Aside from Penn State, Glov and I shared an interest in Liverpool soccer. “Interest” is quite the understatement when talking Glov and his sports teams, though. He was as passionate as they come. I’ll miss his enthusiasm. R.I.P., Glov.

I know there were people waiting to hear from Glov. I just got an email from his son in response to my email a few days ago. Unfortunately Robert passed away April 22nd.

Rip Glov.
Will you send a link of this thread to his son so he can see the appreciation, love and sadness expressed by the family, please?

Absolutely, loved talking old Bucco stories with him.. This kind of thing really kicks you in the balls, so damn unexpected.

Wow. I was wondering why he had not commented on my Yellowstone/Teton thread since he lived up that way.

So sad. How old was he?

I enjoyed giving him crap about being a Tarheels fan.

Thoughts to his family and friends.
When you are staring at the majestic Teton's in September. Have a beer and toast the mountains in his memory. Gonna miss that guy, feel like I lost a friend this morning.

He was a good sport and made me laugh a lot. We shared our disdain for all things Notre Dame and disagreed about Foxy Knoxy and Marc-André Fleury. Through it all he always remained cheerful.
Absolutely! Was thinking how much fun his thread would be this morning after MAF had such a great postseason game last night. Any jabs at him would’ve been received with grace and good humor.

I am profoundly saddened to hear of Glov’s passing and will miss his unique mix of absurdity (love for the Tar Heels) and his dedication to respect & civility (calling everyone sir).

But I can now unburden myself with a secret I’ve been keeping for years…TheGlov admitted to me that he actually respected Mike Krzyzewski! I told him I’d never say anything on either board to protect his reputation. Interestingly, he never once said anything positive about Notre Dame, even in private.

RIP my board brother 😢

I don't want to be melodramatic but reading through this thread I am shedding tears. As many others have said, I never met Glov but I felt like I knew him. Glov grew up in McKees Rocks and I was born there, so we shared that bond. In his posts he was always so full of life, so passionate about his teams. There are many good people on this board and Glov was one of the very best. I will miss him. Rest in Peace, my friend.
