The team was prepared for this game and they executed well. Kudos to the coaches and players for that. There was, in my opinion, one miscue on the day, but it ultimately didn’t affect the outcome.

To me, this was the first game that we were able to see the true Yurcich playbook. The team was executing well, which I think, allowed him to unleash some things we haven’t seen. Whatever the coaches worked on with the OL this week, it was well received.

Lot's of message board coaches are gagging on crow.
Not at all. It's the same old story - dominate a game in a way that few, if any, predicted and the story is that the opponent isn't any good, we didn't do anything we shouldn't have done, and all the smart people knew this would happen. Ignore the fact that none of them said anything of the sort before the game. The difference between a tough team and one of the worst teams in CFB - whether or not Penn State beat them. Now, quick everyone, go back, look at the game, conclude Singleton's big plays are "outliers" that must be discounted, talk about how Tank Bigsby isn't that good after all, and stop taking any joy in what was, in hindsight, a heartbreaking and utterly unimpressive win over a SEC team on the road.

So our couch coaches are masters of equivocation?

Most balanced Offense I have seen at psu in a long time. Clifford no longer has to be the running game. Linebacker unit is a liability, but Diaz will keep offenses guessing just enough. CJF giveth and he taketh away.

Linebackers are playing fairly well and will certainly get better. How can you not feel good about Jacobs, Carter and King? Getting them all on the field at the same time would be more athleticism and play making ability than we’ve had in a long time.

Maybe, but I wouldn't rule out the possibility that the emptiness and mediocrity of their lives makes them too insecure to acknowledge they maybe, just maybe, weren't correct in their previous views.

That was a great win. They finally looked like a team we want to see on Saturday.
Maybe James has figured it all out. Maybe he let his coordinators do their jobs in calling the game. I hope both are true. I’m hoping to God they are.
But the history is this:
James Franklin is 1-7 against Ohio State, 3-5 against Michigan, and 3-5 against Michigan State. Additionally, Franklin is 2-13 against top-10 ranked teams and 11-17 against top-25 teams. Franklin defeats teams with less talent but crumbles when facing higher-caliber teams, especially the other three giants in his division.

I’ll be happy to be proven wrong about him on game days. But the proof is still yet to be seen.

He certainly seems to have the talent available to do it in the near future. Great win and great job today.

We would have won by more if Franklin didn’t go for it on 4th down on the first drive of the game. Without that call we win 32 instead of 29. What’s his buyout?? I’m gonna get a kickstarter going.

Keep living in the past and don't enjoy the games while worrying while me, my wife, and kid (my other one is on campus) and my mother in law are dancing around the house in celebration. FFS

We need photos, as disturbing as they might be, as evidence.

Who dances with their mother-in-law?🤷🏼‍♂️

Wait, are you counting the 6 losses to OSU, Mich, and MSU in Franklin's first two years? No one, doing an honest evaluation of a coach, would use those 1st two years against him. Only a hater, trying to make him look bad, would include those years without mentioning the sanction riddled team.

Hard to believe they won with Franklin being “The worst game day coach in CFB” that some say he is.
It's one game. Let's save the bouquets for when complete games like this happen on a regular basis.

And this was a complete game win -- from Sunday all the way through Saturday. This is as good a win in a hostile environment as we've seen in a long time -- probably since that Iowa road game that was mentioned in the game thread. This team is overflowing with talent and speed on both sides of the ball. The offensive line finally found themselves and we have two young RB's who have vision and speed to hit the hole when it appears instead of dancing side to side. The LB's are still a work in progress outside of Jacobs but the depth on the D-line is such that if they can get penetration and/or at least keep the blockers away from the 2nd level, that will shut down a lot of running games. I thought prior to the game that if they stopped the running game, they'd win pretty easily. Other than losing contain when the QB took off, they passed that test with flying colors.

This was really really nice to see and let's hope they continue to build on this as they enter the conference season.

I did enjoy the win. I said it was a great win. Maybe you can dance, but reading comprehension seems to be a challenge. And the record is what it is. I hope it changes. I really do.

I don't know how one can't be ecstatic with this W. Go into the mighty SEC and kick their -sses (regardless of which team in that conference it was). OL and running game got it going against the supposedly superior "southern speed". D played pretty well overall, and we found a consistent pass rush!! Forced a number of turnovers and didn't commit any.

A few things I observed that could be improved (got to force 4th down on 3rd and long, the penalties were maddening ...) but the positives vastly overshadowed these things.

I've been critical of more than one CJF in-game play call over the last several seasons but (1st drive aside) the coaching this game not only didn't hurt us but (IMO) was also a pretty strong positive. Maybe that was him letting the coordinators do their thing, but whatever... it worked.

While beating an SEC team on the road like we did is certainly impressive, only consistency will convince me that we’re actually “good” and the Auburn game is not an anomaly. Sure, Auburn was 2-0. But look at who they beat: Mercer and San Jose State. At home.

One game does not a season make.

3 NYD bowl games in 4 years....the guy can coach. He isn't perfect and doesn't have the talent of 5-6 teams....that is the reality.
