President Amiridis has officially announced that we will return to “USC“ and toss out UofSC! Everyone…including the Board is in agreement. Thank goodness! What a waste of time and money that was in 2019 to come up with that logo! It will take effect Jan. 4th. A wise decision!

USC streamlines logo, introduces new spirit mark​

"USC" is back and here to stay.
The University of South Carolina announced today it will retain its iconic tree-and-gates as the official academic logo and will introduce a new USC spirit mark.
The university also will sunset the use of "UofSC" adopted in 2019.
Why: "The actions announced today reflect our commitment to enhancing our iconic brand," President Michael Amiridis said. "In my short time back at the university, alumni and other stakeholders have told me how important it is to return the USC name back to the institution. We are initiating that change today."
When: The brand update will take effect on Jan. 4, with some changes taking place immediately.
What's next: While the tree-and-gates will serve as the university's official academic logo, the new spirit mark will provide versatility in promoting the university in non-academic settings. The block-letter USC spirit mark embraces the university's unrivaled spirit and includes 1801, the year of its founding.
Athletics logos unchanged: Athletics logos, including the "Block C," are not impacted.
What they're saying: "The Board of Trustees strongly supports this action," Chairman Thad Westbrook said. "Our alumni and stakeholders have overwhelmingly stated their strong desire to return to the USC name and the USC tradition. We are excited about this change."

I hope this is true. When were on vacation recently in SC, I stopped at a store in Florence to pick up some Gamecock stuff and the "UofSC" stuff was so hideous.

It was amazing to me that "UofSC" was somehow able to make it through the several layers of approval it would take.

I think the only issue with SoCal was the interlocking SC we used on some of our baseball stuff. We lost that lawsuit. I don't think USC was ever in question from that perspective, but I could be wrong.

Yep. Any time I'd receive a call from the alumni folks, I'd always tell them that I'm not listening to a single pitch from them until the stupid "UofSC" goes bye bye.
