Wait, when did I hear this before? Oh yeah, it was the basketball battle cry this past season

Maybe, but you didn't hear that from me.

And I'm not at all sure we are going to be better recordwise in baseball going forward, but I kinda doubt we're going 4-26 in the SEC.

Careful what you ask for...

ps-I wanted Leminhayed gone 2 years ago.
I did too. Yes it can be worse, but it’s not what it is now. Selmon makes a bad hire that’s on him and everyone that helped in the decision. Hold them accountable for the overall mediocrity. If we have to burn it all down and rebuild it honestly won’t be worse than the mediocrity we’re currently being fed.

Pros:

1. Shows our seriousness and the urgency of the situation.
2. Could light a fire for a program that is absolutely stagnant with no clear path to improvement.
3. Last time we did it we made the CWS.

Cons:

1. Selmon would be responsible for the hiring.
2. Would cost more in the short term.
2. See number one again. That's all I've got.

I saw someone make a good point recently. It's hard to even get excited about wins at this point, because a few wins here and there only serve to prolong the inevitable.

My fear is that now that the rest of the schedule is a little easier, we will win a few more game and selmon will say see, he has the team going in the right direction and extend his con
The problem is the optimists are going to point out that the schedule does lighten up some and there is still a path to make the NCAAT. We arguably started with our three toughest series. And that’s technically true. We just played three Top 10 teams in a row and don’t play another current Top 10 team this year (although Auburn, Bama, and Ole Miss are in the Top 15).

But let’s say somehow we do finish fairly strong and sneak in the NCAAT as a 3 seed…. Is that really moving the needle any here? Of course not.
While it is true that we started with the hardest part of our schedule, schedule has nothing to do with playing soccer in the infield and baserunning like a blind man.

disagree with the floor. Hosting a regional means youre a top 16 team and thats not easy to do year in and year out... and top 16 without conference and regional type bids that are given to others a touch out of the top 16.

Maybe hosting every other year or 6 years in a 10 year stretch... sure...
I am not talking about hosting every year. It has now been 4 years since we hosted. Time to put up or shut up. 4 years to host with the hurricane force winds of a national championship behind you is WAAAAY more than fair. In fact, lem should have been shown the door in 2023 after not making post season much less the utter debacle of back-to-back single digit conference wins but I digress.

BTW, hosting every year doesn't seem to be to much of an issue for Arkansas, LSU, and now Tenn as well as others around the country.

This is my biggest fear. We to 11-10 the rest of the SEC season, barely miss a regional (or maybe sneak into one as a 3-seed), and Selmon does the lazy thing again.

I don't see any way Selmon fires him if he makes a regional. However, at this point, even making a regional is going to require a massive and immediate turnaround. We would have to go 13-9 in the last 22 games vs SEC teams to have a real chance.
That is just BS. He has had 4 YEARS after a NC to get us back into the hosting discussion and failed miserably. Enough is enough. Squeaking into a regional is not enough at this point. This is the best we are going to get from Lem and that is sliding into someone else;'s regional and that is unacceptable. He's got to go!

I have never, ever rooted for MSU to lose. I am more temped to do so to get Lem on the road than any time in my life. Desperation will do that to you.

I understand. But the real question is do you want what's best for the program long-term, or to barely be on the NCAA bubble (in or out) and stay in these doldrums.

while i get what your saying.. and agree

LSU did go from 2019-2023 without hosting.. and arkansas has had a great run, but theyve only hosted 6 times in the past 15 years. Granted 4 of those have come in the last 6.. but shows how hard it is to host year in and year out.

but im not defending lemonis.. IMO he should be shown the door too... just dont think its reasonable to ask any program to host yearly... very hard to do.

And again, I did not say he should host every year either just this year because it has been 4 years and every four years is more than reasonable.

And hitting like Pete Rose until we get runners on third with less than two outs where we switch to hitting like Phil Niekro.
