You don't hear about it. Of course many say that's what happened to flight 93 in Pennsylvania on 911. 911 changed a lot of things with planes and authority to shoot them down if they pose a threat.

A side story to flight 93 was that the jets that were sent to bring it down if necessary were not armed. They were going to have to ram the plane to bring it down.

Columbus AFB is a training base with trainer aircraft. NSA Midsouth has no aircraft. The closest fighter base would most likely be the 187th FW out of Montgomery. They have F-16s.

He left his post open for comments. There are some sad, sad people leaving comments on there. Race baiting, politicizing, encouraging him to land on a bunch of kids....you name it. It's just sad.

I hope he’s ok and gets **** figured out, I know he threatened to crash it into Walmart but it seems pretty clear he wasn’t homicidal at this point. Just a sad dude or whatever.

I live near Columbus AFB. I’ve always heard that there was armed planes in the underground hangers near the west end of the runway. No idea if that’s true or just a myth. CAFB used to be a layover for the space shuttle when it landed in California and was being transported back to Canaveral.

I haven't read this thread but I am happy he brought it down instead of ending his life. Everyone involved with talking him down, or keeping those in the airspace around him, should feel proud of their work.
