There had to be handwriting on the wall for Parker's departure and mutually agreed upon for a while

Preparation and management of our pitching staff was a key piece of our poor performance down the stretch but was also clearly visible (but overlooked) when we were outscoring our opponents early in the season.

New person will definitely have his work cut out for him. Plenty of development and hard times ahead IMO to build a good staff of pitching.

Sounds as if there is a verbal agreement already w/ Matt Williams of Liberty. They tried to hire him a couple of years ago, but for whatever reason it didn't work out. Some say it was because Kingston was somewhat on the hot seat and they could only offer 1 year agreement. He had also just started at Liberty, so maybe he didn't want to jump too quick.

Word is we offered a salary increase to Parker (obviously not as high as MSU offered) to try to get him to stay. I think USC was good with him taking the MSU job, with interest from Matt Williams.

Matt is supposedly very good and knows the area well, having coached some in Spartanburg area.
