It would bring maybe 500 more people in. It’s a Friday night non conference game against a sunbelt team with no football game this weekend. It’s going to be sparse.
I think you’re being generous. There’s just not much we can do to bring in crowds for home games before New Year. It’s been a problem in our best seasons.

And so it begins, just like every season. The "I can't believe people don't go to our early season games" talk has officially begun just like clockwork, "Everybody in the Golden Triangle should be there, why aren't they?"
There should find a wa to give tickets to students to fill it out more for games like this. I get that people bought those tickets, but the should do something.

Tell the 1878 Mississippi legislators that they should have anticipated non conference, November basketball attendance when choosing a site for MAMU

Actually never blamed anyone for not going. I’m just saying that It would be nice if we could get a GA game per year for free or like dollar tickets or something. Just to maybe juice up the crowd for a non conference game that’s going to be a MSU blowout. I remember going free or dollar non conference games like this when Stans was the coach. It was sick because you could sit where ever you wanted. Now it’s like $15 for upper deck, and they have ushers checking lower bowl tickets for a game vs Georgia state.

There’s just not much we can do to bring in crowds for home games before New Year.

There’s also not much we can do, ever.

6,000 fans, with 1,000 wearing blue - against a Top 10 UK on a Saturday afternoon a few years ago, when we were a 5-seed in the NCAA’s. Student section literally half empty. Same weekend that the women’s team had a home game when we were still in the Top 10 and Vic was still here.

We have the fairest of fair weather fans, but especially for basketball.

Yeah, the way they guard the lower section at every entrance with an attendant when there are more empty seats than filled is absurd. Everyone should be in the lower section during these kind of games.

Agreed, it’s absurd. I saw so many empty full rows of seats. How is it going to hurt if someone goes from the uppers to the lowers once the game starts if nobody is sitting there?

I love how so many in this thread are like just like "accept it".

OK, well just accept having a second rate basketball program. Accept Jans leaving as soon as he gets a chance.

Moo U gonna Moo U I guess. I mean Mullen and Shaffer showed you how it was done. But instead, we sit back and say, "well that's just how it is in non-con awww shucks". Gotta go much deer huntn

It’s all that damn Salmon’s fault. He should be riding around the Golden Triangle in a courtesy van rounding up all the blue hairs that refuse to come watch November basketball against Tiddlywink Tech!!!

Nah. See this is where your brain damage comes into play. No one here blamed Salmon in the least.

Fair-weather bball fandom has been around at MSU since the 90s. Better than football, but still not good enough to say we’re a committed program.

I mean we used to pack the hump all the time (at least during SEC play). This place was wild in its day.
One year back then coaches voted it the toughest place in the SEC to play. Then we changed the seating and kicked out all the folks that never missed a game to make more money.

This made me laugh. (Because it’s true)

To be fair though, a lot of those that got kicked out were Ma and Pa Kettle from Maben, or Sturgis, or Caledonia. They got to The Hump at 5:30, sat in the car and ate egg salad sandwiches from home and listened to MS Public Broadcasting until right before tip. Ma took her crochet bag inside and knitted half a Maroon beanie during the game and never once stood up. Pa sat there hollering at everybody that did stand up to sit down.
Bless them, they were loyal but did nothing for the atmosphere or bottom line though. They made no more noise than the empty bleachers do now

If that were true why the coaches vote?

I honestly like this idea. For games with low demand, $10 lower bowl GA, $5 upper bowl GA. Done.

Season tickets should be for SEC games only.

It would grow the program’s popularity locally/regionally.
