I wish I could say I did but I don’t.
Haven’t had season tickets for about 7 years.
Use to go to all home games and a road trip or two.
Now I’m down to 2-3 home games and a possible road trip depending on where it’s at.
I’m fortunate in that if I want a couple of tickets, I can get them very very easily and for the low low cost of 0

All games being televised, coupled with huge TV's make it very easy to not want to go to games. Gave up my tickets during the Morehead era and have not missed them once.
This and the fact that traffic is an issue in and out, concession lines are long and beer is $15.00 a piece, bathroom lines can be long and I don’t have to drive 2 1/2 hrs to get there. Have a place in StarkVegas or WP after the game but still have that drive on Sunday.
Plus when the game is over , I can watch another or several on my 65” HD screen.
I do miss the tailgating every game but 2-3 times a year is fine.

Agree with the over production of all live sports. I went to sports to watch sports and talk about sports. It is very hard to do either at a sporting event today. Constant loud music has driven me away.
Imagine that watch sports and talk sports....didn't think about the talk part being replaced with alternate entertainment. That may have been a big part of my "epiphany". I like loud music to pump up the fans but during tv timeouts I don't need a concert with ribbon lights flashing. Damn am I turning into the get off my lawn dude?

We started in '95 when our daughter was a freshman. Entertaining the college kids was the best. Those other girls are still our friends today.
Dropped out after Moorehead cause we're old and it took weekends that we could go see our kids in Texas...now Texas and Missouri.
That last year we had at least 4-night games, putting us home at 1:30 in the morning. Going this weekend but staying with friends in Starkvegas.

Absolutely nothing Id rather have been doing than Hanging out with friends on campus last Saturday. It was awesome.
Same here. And, with only about 7 home games a year, I figure I can continue making those weekends to see friends, family, and football.

I have season tickets but the last few years have not made many games. Kids and their schedules, combined with tv kickoff times and a 2 hour drive up and sometimes 3 hours back counting the time it takes to get off campus are contributing factors.

I do miss it quite a bit. At least I miss what it used to be, not so sure I exactly miss the hassle that it’s turned into today. As a kid in the 80s I was fortunate enough to be able to tag along with family members and make several games every season. Tailgating consisted of sitting in a lawn chair popping the trunk and eating a sandwich or some chicken nuggets we picked up on the way up while we listened to USM or OM on the radio.
Yes, especially in the lot at the Vet. Our big family made sandwiches and sweet tea at home, then tailgate in the parking lot.

This is the reason I don't miss it at all either. I remember when you went to a football game and it was a football game. You had a 20-minute halftime break which was just about right to go pee and get something at the concession stand, but other than that time outs were about a minute each and the band and cheerleaders kept you entertained then. The whole thing lasted about 2-1/2 hours. It was fun. Now there are more time outs, they last close to 4 minutes each, you're bombarded with commercials and music you generally could care less about, and the game lasts close to 3-1/2 hours. It just becomes a 17ing ordeal. Bought season tickets and went to every game for 20 years, but gave them up for the Croom era. Haven't looked back and haven't missed it for one second. Been going to a game per years since the Mullen era, but this year is so bad, I'm not even doing that.

I miss attending non televised games. All the tv timeouts kill the flow.

Not really for all of the above reasons. I’d rather find premium seats on another site’s ticket exchange* or Stubhub for one game which is like two less than I’d make with season tickets.

Plus, the ticket office made it too difficult IMO to add tickets without moving to the back of the line - by that time, I was out of the market for tickets. Ever look at the single tickets that are unsold in the lower level areas? The ticket office had no solution to move folks over or around to utilize those.

Don’t miss them. It’s very easy to get good tickets on the secondary market and I don’t have to feel obligated to go to games I really don’t want to.
This is where I’m at - renewed for this season, but this is third year now where we won’t use half our tickets (my wife and youngest son won’t go watch the ****-show we’ve become). I can get better tickets whenever I want them at a fraction of the price.

Plus, with how seat selection works now there are plenty of decent seats available if I decide to start buying again.

Nice, uplifting glfr thread. No wonder we don't win.

I don't care who the coach is........just like with offense......if we continue to do what everybody else does and expect our results to be different, then we'll continue to wallow in mediocrity or just plan shlttiness, like this year. By do what everybody else does, I mean sit at home on the couch and not go to games. Bigger schools can afford to do this, but we need to be going above and beyond for years on end.

We did it during Mullen, and it paid off. But you have to continue. And so many of our fans say, "Well you have to stop going and stop giving when we suck to make muh change!!!" When you have an AD that's worth a shlt, they'll make changes even if attendance doesn't slip, which is what Cohen did in 2019. We were hanging on by a thread during Leach and now have given up. I think many of our fans are just shltty fair weather, but another, smaller segment (I am included here) sees our current path as futile.

There’s nothing like being in the crowd for big moment reactions but it’s not worth it for me right now. The gameday experience has really improved over the last decade but, as others have noted, it’s gotten pretty expensive over the years. I can’t see myself getting back into weekly attendance until it becomes the main thing I want to blow money on. Those dollars are chasing too many other things that I get regular enjoyment from.
I don’t think the money game is ruining the college football product per se but it is becoming harder for the regular Joes to be involved. If you have a limited budget that you can or are willing to spend on Bulldog athletics is that money better spent on attendance or NIL? I get more enjoyment watching them win on TV than I do watching them lose in person so that is my guiding principle for the time being.

I keep hearing people say it's too expensive. You ever heard of upper deck seats? If you live anywhere inside of 3 hours (Memphis, Huntsville, Birmingham, Jackson), you can make a day trip, sit in the upper deck for cheap, and park for free (if you're willing to walk).

In reality, it may be too expensive for you to do what you want to do, but it's not too expensive in general.

Commented to my buddy on the way home from a recent game about this and how "draggy" games have become. Just for grins, eliminate TV TO's, and all replays for a game just to remember what that was like.. Now that the music has been mentioned, kill that and the Jumbotrons as well. Just football, the band and stadium PA guy as it was for many years but bet it would actually be shocking to your senses these days.
I wonder if anyone can remember their last game in this set up and what the evolution was from that to what we have now? I can't.

Yeah. Everyone's situation is different. I'm at a point in life that I can go as much as I like. However I was a newly wed, had babies, little money, played traveled ball.... etc etc. I get it when people are in those situations.

I get it when people say the drive is too far and hotels are expensive. But damn, at least get back 1 game per season to support the cause. I always made 1 game a year, usually 2-3, even in my leanest seasons. Anyways....

I run into far to many State alumni that brag about how many years it's been since they came to a game..... wear it like a badge of honor. I can give one example of just this fall a young man wearing his &tate tshirt, after I ask him about his tshirt, telling his whole family are alumni but they go to Bama games because of this and that reasons. ..... it's very frustrating but...

State just has to win more. That's the bottom line. People will then find reasons to come to Starkville and all the other things won't seem so big.

That would actually be a good idea for the I-AA game on SECN+ only. Can’t imagine you’d be giving up much commercial revenue & you’d probably sell out the stadium.

The original question was in regard to season tickets. Yes, upper deck tickets are listed for $3 on seat geek for the weekend so it would be easy to make a quick trip for relatively cheap this weekend. But as I said the question was related to season ticket purchases. Another thing you’ve got to consider on season ticket sales is they have to be fully paid for by mid-summer/end of summer if I recall correctly, so the timing of that as it coincides with vacation season may also be a deterrent for some families.

I wish they would experiment with a split screen/smaller live screen for commercial breaks without killing the live action. At least for part of the commercial time.

Have to say no, haven’t missed season tickets. We’re at a stage of life with a young child where I’m doing good to make it to 1 or 2 games a year. I’m also the type that doesn’t love to spend money on myself, and our budget is kinda tight right now, so I’ve just kinda decided to save my money for necessities or things my 2 year old will enjoy. She can’t really sit through a game just yet to enjoy that with her, maybe in a few years.

I miss it. I live several hours away. Where my life is right now as far as work, kids, etc. it is just not contusive to going on a regular basis. Unless our program or college football completely comes off the rails, I intent to get back to going sooner or later. I probably need to get a life, but for better or worse, Mississippi State sports is really the only interest I have outside of my profession and family.
I was that way through my 30s. Hail State all day . Recruiting all year. Every sport every chance I got . But it faded . I watch some games. More baseball than anything else and that was third back in the day. Dak when he’s on. Weird how some things become less exciting with age. And others become more exciting ( HS basketball with my oldest boy and travel baseball with my youngest)

Not exactly the same, but I like watching the games that espn sometimes will show on sky cam only with no commentary or replays.
