Felonies can also get pre-trail intervention.
But it just says weapon. The first thing we think is gun. But as far as I know it could be a lesser charge due to the weapon not being a gun and instead a can of pepper spray. Or a pair of brass knuckles. Or a tool he threatened to use as a weapon. I’m about to due some research on the weapons charge.

In any case- he better call Saul!

Please do tell when you get your decision.

Needs to be gone even if he gets PTI. Less than a month on campus.

Rifle - now , why the need to have a rifle in your dorm room or for that matter anywhere on campus?
USC has a zero tolerance policy - he's out on a PR bond - guess he might as well pack his bags and find another place to live prior to pre-trial or trial as the dorm is not in the cards. Toss him out and lets move on.

Could be that chance we took on a kid who had behavior issues in high school came back to bite us. Hope he hasn’t taken down two team mates for good. Let the process play out.

An incident report provided Friday by USC showed that campus police responded to a “housing complaint” at the 650 Lincoln dorms at 9:20 p.m. Jan. 25. The incident report references a “weapon law violations,” with a rifle listed as the weapon. The report lists Rhames, Rose and an unnamed juvenile as suspects in the alleged incident — but there are no mentions of charges or arrests.

ugh- dude couldn't wait to be stupid. He had to immediately. Rose supposedly really good potential and upshaw was the really tall DB. This just sucks.

If it was the lone rifle in the dorm, one player may end up being one to take that charge, letting the other two pti on the obstruction charge.

I would wager that only one is going to get permanently suspended.

I question why he transferred from Sumter High to Manning before his senior year.Perhaps he was asked to leave.Makes you wonder.Better to go ahead and cut your losses now.

Well, it’s not all that long ago that some our fans would’ve been irate over the players being suspended and defended the football players as “boys being boys” so I guess we’ve made some progress

USC's school policies do not trump the Bill of Rights. Specifically the 2nd one. Shall not be infringed. Period.

Scotus recently made that very clear. Crystal clear actually.

I still say one takes the fall, the owner of the rifle, and the other two are probably defended once they get through pti.

Not sure if you're serious, but you know there are restrictions on where you can carry weapons, and that schools are high on that list, right?
You're not hearing me:

'The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.'

Question: How can I bring to bear something I am not allowed to keep on my person? Answer > I can't. Thus > Unconstitutional. SCOTUS made that crystal clear for the first time ever. We have the right to carry a firearm outside the home for the sole purpose of self defense.

That means *ANYWHERE* on US soil.... (at least it will in time, once the challenges come forth and go to SCOTUS) <grin> Liberals are gonna learn.

Take one on a plane sitting on US soil and let us know how that turns out. Maybe you can be the SCOTUS case.

That is not the current law....it may be what you believe it should be, but it isn't. If you don't believe me, try to carry a concealed weapon into a courthouse.

Hence why I said (at least it will in time, once the challenges come forth and go to SCOTUS)

There literally is no way around this : You cannot bring to bear something you are not allowed to keep on your person. That includes firearms and any law that blocks or restricts that is 100% unconstitutional period, and will be struck down.

This is not complicated. At all.

Even at a "pro gun" place like The Citadel we had to check any hunting weapons (rifle and shotgun) in at the Rod and Gun club.Any other weapon found was grounds for dismissal. And that was in the mid 70's.I'm as big a senond amendment supporter as you'll find but no college kid needs a gun in their dorm room or apartment for that matter.Just asking for trouble.

Except no one has ever made that argument.....and due to rational thought, no one ever will. If anyone ever does, I will promise you that exceptions will be found. There are exceptions to the First Amendment's freedom of speech and religion that are not defined in the Constitution.....they will create similar exceptions to the Second Amendment.....as they already have.

ROTC? Riflery team? Legit, but there are designated places on campus for storage and usage.
