Let me add, anyone who can take an established song like "Lets Stay Together" by an established icon like Al Green, and then not only do a cover, but make it their own like she did, has my utmost respect as a musician. .

She endured 16 years of abuse from Ike Turner. Doing some research I noticed that she died almost 16 years after Ike Turner. It was almost as if God tried to give her those years back.
Saw her at the coliseum in ‘87 on her “Break Every Rules!” Tour…although I was there to see the opening act, an English jazz-funk band, called Level 42.
I was a big fan of Mark King who played a “slap and pop” style of electric bass guitar. He played a Status graphite Kingbass that had blue LED lights on the fret boards.
He put on quite a performance…it was the loudest bass playing I had ever heard…and the blue LED lights on the neck less bass guitar was really cool for 1987....King’s bass playing on their hit “Something About You” was very good and loud….and it sounded just like the recorded version….not sure if most of the audience realized King’s playing ability for they were there for Tina Turner, but he was quite impressive.
