Was 'communist' really one of the terms the left used to describe a potential Trump 2nd term?
Boy, I don't think I read or heard that. He was called a lot of things, but I really don't remember him being called a communist.
I don't remember communist, but Hitler and fascist were pretty commonly thrown around

Actually, he said recess appointments "are on the table" to get Trump appointments through. Which was part of the deal they made...
Not what I've seen. Recess appointments were fine and dandy when Senators had to rely on horses to get to Washington. They have no place now. Switch rolls, I bet you wouldn't be comfortable with Harris doing it. I wouldn't be either. If you don't want the opposition to have a power when they are ascendant, do NOT claim it for yourself when you are ascendent.

A little elaborating: Our Revolution was fought in name against the tyranny of King George III. That was useful propaganda. Every single thing in the Constitution was actually aimed at limiting the power of the majority in the Legislature/Parliament. The Founders knew what they were actually fighting against in the Revolution, even if they said otherwise.

Yeah tongue in cheek. It definitely was a mandate to fix cost of living and immigration. Stop focusing on the margins and get back to being able to eat on your paycheck. Not sure sure it was a mandate to assemble the cabinet from Idiocracy though...
Fix cost of living?

Trump's two big campaign promises:
1. Mass Deportation of undocumented immigrants
2. More Restrictive Trade regulations and higher tariffs on imported goods

Would BOTH *raise* food prices.

American-grown staples would get more expensive due to domestic labor shortage.
Imported foods would get more expensive due to double digit import taxes..

So if "fixing cost of living" was the number 1 campaign issue for people - they just got 17'd!

Thune has said recess appointments are on the table. There’s some hand wringing by quite a few R senators that might derail that talk but Thune is on board with it.

Gaetz, Hegseth, and RFK are WTF are you doing picks. The rest are good. Noem, Collins, Burgum (drill baby drill), and Rubio are solid

Sad to see half of Oktibbeha County will be heading over to Bluesky
I signed up on Bluesky and this is what I found

Tumbleweeds Plains GIF

The “blue” in Bluesky is pretty accurate. Looked like a giant echo chamber of left leaning Twitter haters.

Exactly. Real socialism and real communism have never been tried. I mean, durn, 90 million people dead because of these fake attempts and people are willing to give up on trying it the right way? Bunch of wuses and no comrades of mine.
It was what it was. 90 million or a billion people being dead still don’t make it what you want it to be. Fact remains it was about as socialist as the United States’ state-capitalism is pure capitalist. Probably less so because it was just another form of state-capitalism.
