There is Congressional legislation in the works to prevent college athletes from being employees, and to "equitably" distribute NIL funds among all athletes.

There was recently a bill introduced that also limits coaching salaries and puts limits on conference alignment, but I don't expect that bill to gain any traction.

I think I'm opposed to Congress taking control of the matter, but, since anti trust laws are a leading impediment, we may need Congressional action.

I'm concerned about the viability of the House v. NCAA settlement after the latest hearing. The judge says they are close, but she is just now asking the important questions: how is policing NIL deals fair, and how can this apply to future athletes?

I have no idea what the future of college athletics looks like at this point. It is clear the schools do not want the athletes to be employees, though.

Good point. I just find it all crazy that on top of this - it's the fans footing the bill.
Which is ridiculous especially when you think about how expensive it is to even go to college. Need a DOGE for these colleges. I'm betting half the administration could be eliminated. College has turned into a huge money grab.

Right now college athletics is a professional league, if you decided to organize a professional league in the worst possible way
