Trying to squeak out a playoff spot, and you're going to start the guy who hasn't pitched worth a **** since he drove 100 mph down Peachtree Street all boozed up like a mother17er?

Fredi is a complete idiot.

Now, baseball is a funny game, and Derek could completely redeem himself in this one game...but I would not stake my rep as a MLB manager with a decision like that if I was him. No way. No how.

Number of runs Lowe gives up in the 1st inning. I will set it at 2.

But on another note, Delgado pitched well enough to win. I would rather see Teheran or Huddy on 3 days than Lowe. I hate Lowe, and I don't think we have a chance to win with him pitching. </p>

Bottom line is the Braves don't deserve a playoff spot the way they have played to end the season.

with runners in scoring position. In both the 7th and 8th innings tonight, there was ample opportunity to score a run or two and make a game out of it, but there is just no depth in the lineup and this has been the same song for them for decades. Excellent pitching bailed them out many times in the 90s, but that strategy carries you only so far when your best hitters can't take advantage of key scoring situations (In particular, I'm talking about Chipper's last 2 at bats tonight where he looked at a strike 3 with a full count and hit into a DP with a man on first and second and 1 out).

But Lowe has a history of being one of the better playoff/big game pitchers. Career 3.21 ERA ....and only that because he had a bad series with the bosox in 03. Lost 2 games and gave up 10 runs in those 2. Last year with the Braves he pitched 11 innings and gave up only 3 runs. So, who the hell knows what to expect tonight. They are playing for at least a one game playoff tonight.
